Job Description

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their lives. The IRC works with people forced to flee from war, conflict and disaster and the host communities which support them, as well as those who remain within their homes and communities. We began work in Ethiopia since 2000 and currently implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response. The IRC has a focus on narrowing the gender gap in humanitarian aid and ensuring that we contribute to gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in both our programs and operations by working to establish a context where our clients (including those from minority groups) enjoy the same rights and opportunities as well as an equal access to services. The IRC also has a strong commitment to crafting an equitable and inclusive culture, where safeguarding is upheld in our workplace and programs. We are determined to protect our clients and staff from safeguarding violations through prevention and, where misconduct is alleged, to address it without fear or favor. Summary statement of responsibilities:

- The position holder is responsible for implementing WPE-GBV program in Bambasi Woreda, IDP sites. The position holder will engage in the prevention and response activities of the program that include working with the community, psychosocial support activities and case management.Detailed Responsibilities and Tasks: - Assist the team in the assessment of the living conditions of women and children in the IDP/Returnee community centers and participate in the development of an appropriate strategy in addressing their needs. - Facilitate the involvement of children and women the community (leaders and parents) in women and girls wellness center and document the progress made. - Support community leaders and government sector focal persons in the monitoring, verification, and documentation of GBV cases. - Follow-up the preparation and implementation of case action plan and conduct home to home visit including outreach programs. - Carry out data Entry into the GBVIMS database. - Support the WPE officer in facilitating and coordinating appropriate GBV case management services in collaboration with the woreda office of women and social affairs likewise other key stakeholders. - Organize and facilitate GBV awareness session. - Organize and lead psychosocial support activities at women and girls’ safe space (WGSS) - Work closely with the WPE Officer in the celebration of international events days and other awareness-raising sessions. - Adhere and fully abide by the GBV code of conduct.

- Shall take any additional responsibilities as requested by supervisors. Safeguarding Responsibilities:

- Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to establish team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion in IRC [team/office] - Develop ongoing learning, honest dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies. Key Working Relationships: - The position holder will directly report to the Camp Manager and WPE officer based in Bambasi with additional oversight from the WPE manager based in Assosa.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: University fresh graduate in psychology, sociology, social work and other social science or other related fields. 2 years of relevant work experience for diploma holders in social science and other related fields Minimum skills and qualifications Language skill of English, and Amharic. Self-motivated, open, responsible, punctual, ability to work under pressure and in a team with low supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. Good team spirit, demeanor, behavior, and problem-solving abilities. Basic computer skill Good report writing skill. Preferred Skill and Qualification Good command spoken and written in English and Amharic. Knowledge of other local languages is an asset. Preference will be given to qualified women candidates. Familiarity with the local context of the project implementation areas. Previous work experience in the refugee and/or IDP settings.
