The Curriculum, Quality Learning and Student Assessment (CQLSA) Advisor reports to the Head, Curriculum, Quality Learning and Student Assessment (CQLSA) Unit.

Responsibilities Contributes to reviewing of UNRWA Host countries curricula based on Curriculum Framework and to the development of curricula enrichment material and monitors the implementation of the Agency-wide Curriculum Framework; plans and implements capacity building activities for Field staff including the Strategic Support Units to empower and professionally develop the skills and competencies of Education staff in the area of CQLSA with particular reference to Islamic Education.

Provides technical support to Field Education Staff including to the Strategic Support Units, in the area of CQLSA with particular reference to Islamic Education; works to ensure neutrality, gender, and age appropriateness standards into the CQLSA Unit’s work, supports the analysis and interpretation of performance data for the CQLSA Unit.

Identifies areas for, and supports the management of research, as required, for the quality learning and measuring students’ overall performance; disseminates good practices and lessons learned Agency-wide regarding curriculum in general, and Islamic Education in particular.

Contributes to reviewing UNRWA Self Learning Materials (SLM) uploaded on the Digital Learning Platform (DLP) to ensure compliance with approved standards; provides the necessary support and technical advice to the Fields with regard to the development of the different SLM; reviews school textbooks for Islamic Education in light of the UNRWA Education Rapid Review methodology and supports the work of the Unit as needed.

Supports the preparation, administration, piloting, implementation, and result dissemination of the periodic different research studies on student assessment, i.e Assessment of Learning Outcomes (ALO) and Survey of Associated Factors (SAF), among others.

Advises on and assists with the implementation and monitoring of the Agency-wide Quality Assurance Framework.

As assigned, supports the Head of the Unit in:

- setting direction for the Unit’s activities and planning priorities and workflows; - the development of planning and monitoring material and in communicating this and other key outputs and achievements; - maintaining, as appropriate, constructive work relationships with counterparts in the Host authorities, UN Agencies, non-governmental organizations, and educational institutions, for coordination of common activities and sharing of best practices.

Education An Advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in education or a relevant area (preferably Islamic Education).

Job - Specific Qualification Education Qualification (Qualified Teacher status – or equivalent) (Required)

Work Experience At least seven years of progressively responsible and relevant experience in guidance, capacity building and technical support on curriculum review, curricula enrichment material, students’ assessment and monitoring to improve quality of education (Required).

A minimum of three years experience at senior level (Required)

An Advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in education or a relevant area (preferably Islamic Education) (Required).

Special Notice Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment

Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need. / This job opening is open to internal and external candidates only. Only candidates residing in Amman, and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply. The Curriculum, Quality Learning and Student Assessment (CQLSA) Advisor may be required to travel frequently in the Agency ‘s area of operations.
