- Minimum of 8 years of experience in curriculum development and review
- Experience in managing education programs for adults and young women
- In-depth knowledge of and insights into accelerated basic education and training in Somalia
- Understanding of the core package of basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills
- Excellent analytical skills, particularly in the realm of grant management
- Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
- Proven work experience as a Curriculum and Instruction Specialist or similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Curriculum Development Specialist
The Role:
The Curriculum and Instruction Specialist will design and implement instructional programs. The role holder will be responsible for setting educational standards, establishing objectives for learning, and developing content for instructional programs, evaluate existing instructional materials and teaching techniques for effectiveness and recommend improvements as necessary. The ideal candidate will be required to have a strong understanding of teaching methods, curriculum design, and educational technology, as well as a dedication to fostering academic achievement and personal development among students. The position holder will also represent World Vision in meetings for ministry of Education, Local Authority, State government and other key stakeholders. He/she will maintain communication with the project sub-grantees.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement curriculum plans that align with state and National learning standards
- Evaluate and revise existing instructional material to meet the current educational standards
- Provide guidance to instructors, teachers and administrators in the implementation of curriculum programs
- Develop strategies to measure and improve student learning
- Conduct research on emerging educational trends and best practices
- Work closely with instructors to improve teaching methodology and address classroom challenges
- Provide professional development and instructional coaching to instructors
- Conduct regular reviews of instructional materials and resources
- Collaborate with school administrators to assess and improve school performance
- Advocate for the adoption of innovative teaching practices and instructional tools
Projects Monitoring and Ensure quality, timely reporting
- Projects Monitoring and Ensure quality, timely reporting.
- Conduct regular field visits to project site and update the Project teams, management on the progress of project activities in the field.
- Share accurate and timely reports to supervisor/management and this includes: project monitoring reports, weekly/monthly progressive reports, MMRs as required.
- With guidance from Education Advisor carry out assessments and baselines in support of community driven design project;
- Coordinate project field requirements; support supervision of WV engaged contractors/consultants in TVET and adult learning for numeracy and literacy outcomes.
Monitoring & Designing
- Involve creating programs that address gender disparities in education,
- Promote girls' access to education, and empower women through education and skills development.
- Support evaluating programs and materials,
- Establish student support systems,
- Implement assessment strategies, and managing administrative systems.
- Monitor the impact of the program interventions on participant household’s child education, monitoring for negative outcomes like child labor.
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in education specializing in curriculum studies/development or teacher education
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in curriculum development and review
- Experience in managing education programs for adults and young women and In-depth knowledge of and insights into accelerated basic education and training in Somalia.

Working Environment:
The position is field-based in Baidoa, South West State with frequent travel to field operation areas required.
