Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) currently hosts Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), the implementation arm of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Technology Mechanism. The mission of the CTCN is to enhance the development and transfer of climate technologies for developing countries as they seek to achieve their commitments under the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. The CTCN assists developing country Parties at their request, building or strengthening their capacity to prepare and implement climate technology projects that span the technology transfer continuum. The CTCN key services include tailored technology solutions to meet the needs of the developing countries, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. The CTCN is currently looking for an intern to support its back-office including data collection, tracking and analysis of various data and information emanated from its three key services: Technical assistance, Capacity Building, and Knowledge Sharing. The intern will work under the supervision of a Programme Officer or a person designated by the Director of the CTCN. During their first two weeks the intern and the supervisor will agree on goals and an individual work plan for their internship. This internship is for 4 - 6 months and designed to be physically based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Applicants must have a residence permit/work permit to be an Intern for UNEP in Denmark. Duties may include, but are not limited to: • Back-office support including tracking and analyzing CTCN data and activities using monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and data collection systems, including the CTCN website, according to the established CTCN M&E framework • Collaborate with CTCN teams in three service areas to identify gaps in the data tracking and collection and recommend potential improvements for the M&E and data collection system • Support quality assurance and tracking/collection of M&E related deliverables for technical assistance (e.g. closure reports, stakeholder feedback, timeliness of technical assistance process), capacity building activities, and knowledge products • Maintain a repository of programme documents, tools, and knowledge products for internal and external use • Other ad hoc duties to be determined
Qualifications/special skills
University degree (or pursuing advanced degree) in business administration, environmental studies, project management, development studies or related field. Knowledge/studies related to development and/or international monitoring and evaluation are an asset. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
