You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, photography, communication or journalism or equivalent field relevant to position.
  • At least six years of relevant professional experience with filming, video editing and post-production, two of which should be with a UN Agency or INGO.
  • Extensive experience in creating powerful video content for marketing/fundraising and brand campaigns.
  • Extensive editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro/Avid and other editing software.
  • Proven track record of creating fundraising products and/or awareness videos in humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong storytelling skills with ability to translate complicated concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral knowledge of English; French, Spanish or Arabic highly desirable.

Job Title: Creative Video Editor

Duty Station (City, Country): Remote from home location, within +/- 2 hours of European Standard time zone

Duration: 11 months

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Reporting to the Creative & Branding Manager but under day-to-day management of the Senior Copywriter, the Creative Video Editor will proactively work with stakeholder teams to develop and deliver a video content plan to engage core audiences and support organizational brand, advocacy and communication aims.

The Creative Video Editor will project manage and edit film products for WFP to tight schedule and deliver final edited products, along with supporting clean versions and video editing files for global use. As requested, this person will also support with upskilling regional and country office colleagues in video editing.

ACCOUNTABITLITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Creative Video editor will:

  • Develop a video plan in consultation with other teams in the Creative, Content & Branding unit and wider teams across the Communications, Advocacy and Marketing (CAM) division;
  • Storyboard, script, develop and edit a variety of video products to brief and tight schedule, to engage specific supporter and donor audiences with the work of WFP. Products could include brand videos, social media videos, long form videos, specific donor engagement videos, b-roll packages, explainers and animated shorts;

  • Quickly and efficiently create, edit and deliver emergency video products using footage, photo, and key messages, to ensure timely WFP communications;

  • Develop and provide trainings and guidance to cross functional team members on Premiere Pro and Adobe editing to facilitate/accelerate content production across channels;
  • Independently develop scripts and narratives for all video content using statistics/ key messages supplied by media team or other parts of the organization;
  • Ensure consistent and effective use of title graphics and colour palette across all video products, propose interesting and innovative ways of including animated graphics within video products and work with designers to update brand video templates and make available for other teams/editors as needed;
  • Work within the agreed content ingestion protocols and post-production workflows of the WFP Multimedia Hub, and independently upload all video products with metadata to the system as required;
  • Lead or support other film, animation/FX projects as requested and briefed through the year;
  • On occasion, travel to the field to film staff, beneficiaries or other people for video products and/or direct and brief creative colleagues or freelancers to film relevant contributors for film products;
  • Undertake other tasks or duties as requested by line manager or unit head.

DELIVERABLES QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

By the end of the assignment the Video Editor – Individuals will

  • A video plan (exact pieces of content to be determined with key stakeholder teams);
  • A range of video throughout the contract period, with a minimum of at least 20 edited creative/brand/thematic pieces.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in film, photography, communication or journalism OR degree in equivalent field relevant to position.

Experience:

At least six years of relevant professional experience with filming, video editing and post-production of brand video products, at least two years of which should be with a UN Agency or INGO.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Extensive experience of creating powerful and effective video content for marketing/fundraising and brand campaigns in an INGO or UN agency

    • Extensive experience editing and producing video products using Adobe Premier Pro/Avid and other editing software
    • Proven track record of working to create fundraising products (including acquisition and retention videos) and/or awareness videos in a humanitarian and/or development context
    • Demonstrable experience of managing advanced FX and other animation projects for creation of film products including strong skills in Adobe After Effects
    • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to explain and translate complicated concepts to film across a range of cultures and geographies to a diverse audiences
    • Ability to work with WFP teams, and other freelancers to deliver on-brief, compelling multimedia story content
    • Proactive and highly organized, with strong time management and planning skills
    • Able to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

    Languages:

    Excellent written and oral knowledge of English. French, Spanish or Arabic highly desirable.
