This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The project will have significant environmental benefits in the short to long term through the improvement of flood mitigation, improved water quality through the minimization of sediment loss, hillslope protection, the absorption of greenhouse gas emissions and most importantly, through providing communities with climate information that will result in lives being saved. For this purpose, the project intends to hire services of a UNV Creative Designer.

Under the overall supervision of National Project Manager, the UNV Creative Designer will need to use their creativity and artistic abilities to create content in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner which may include but not limited to the following:

• Create and design various IEC materials for print, electronic and digital media. • Design Newsletters, reports, publications etc. • Assist and support IT specialist for project’s web based designs. • Designing artwork for merchandise and other branding and communication materials. • Prioritize and manage multiple design specifications. • Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for product illustrations and content designing for website. • Prepare visually impactful content for PowerPoint presentations, such as visual representations, animations, infographics and other informative videos. • Any other tasks assigned by the National Project Manager.

People Management: Takes ownership of responsibilities and produces new ideas and approaches in synergy with the team. Communication: Presents complex, conceptual ideas in practical terms to others, and builds informal networks internally and externally as required. Delivery: Responsible for project implementation or team deliverables and works to agreed goals dealing with challenges constructively. Leadership: Establishes and maintains relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to understand needs and gain support, anticipates, and resolves conflicts by pursuing mutually agreeable solutions.

Functional and Technical Competencies: Advocacy: Contributes skills and knowledge with demonstrated ability to advance innovation and continuous improvement, in professional area of expertise to elaborate on the objectives of the GLOF-II Project. Building Strategic Partnerships: Contributes skills and knowledge with demonstrated ability to advance innovation and continuous improvement, in professional area of expertise. Client Orientations: Shows constructive ability to build positive and proactive relations with the stakeholders and project team. Job knowledge: Contributes skills and understanding of the core knowledge required for effective delivery as per the job description. Impactful Visualization of Data Analysis: Ability to create impactful representation of the data collected under the project for improved advocacy and to analyze the outreach of the project.

Education: Bachelor’s in visual arts, graphic designing and/or in related field from recognized institute. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the related field. Skills: Familiarization with Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effect, InDesign, Premiere Pro) is a must.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.

Assignment remarks: This is a national UNV assignment and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 83,791 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
