UN-Habitat is looking for an audio-visual technician who is able to deliver a variety of video and photo story packages to support the marketing of the UN-Habitat flagship report, the World Cities Report. This report will be launched and publicized through the Urban October campaign as well as signature events. Under the supervision of the Chief of Communications, the volunteer will provide support to the production of a steady stream of short-form videos for use on social media. Specifically, the volunteer will be required to produce videos including scripting, subtitles in different formats and short form for short videos for use as curtain raisers at events. The volunteer will be required to research, produce, and edit high-quality, original, timely and visually captivating visuals based on UN-Habitat’s key messages as presented in the World Cities Report.

    UN-Habitat is the United Nations agency responsible for urbanization and human settlements, mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. This position is located in the Communications and Media Section, External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation Division of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). This post will contribute to the broader strategy of positioning UN-Habitat as a centre of excellence in sustainable urbanization through the creation of knowledge and advocacy platforms and sharing these with partners to. These platforms will provide opportunities to raise awareness of topical issues related to human settlements. Key to this is the production of reports including the World Cities Report which is the flagship report of UN-Habitat. The contribution from the volunteer will enable the Communications office to raise awareness and publicize the report on different social media platforms and websites. such as the World Cities Report.

  • Volunteers: 2 needed

  • 11-20 hours per week / 6 weeks

    Minimum 1 year of demonstrated experience in news, documentary film making and/or video for high quality platforms. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other Creative Suite software. Prior experience shooting video and still photography on DSLR cameras and drone/aerial filming experience. Familiar with short-form video productions for social media use. Fluency in English is required
