Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

YPWC has been serving young people around the world for the past 15 years on issues ranging from education, employment, and health. We are currently looking up to engage young people through more visual materials including videos and would like a volunteer who is interested in providing information through videos for young people. This volunteers videos will be shared on our website and social media channels.

Many young people aspire to pursue higher education but face challenges in identifying suitable scholarships, understanding eligibility requirements and preparing competitive applications.

Although scholarship opportunities are regularly shared through YPWC platforms, young people sometimes find it difficult to understand what scholarship providers expect from applicants.

We believe that accessible and engaging video content can help address this challenge by explaining scholarship opportunities in a practical and easy-to-understand format.

YPWC therefore seeks to develop a series of scholarship explainer videos that will help young people understand scholarship requirements, application processes and practical strategies for preparing stronger applications.

The videos will be shared through our websites and social media platforms and may also be presented during youth events, webinars and scholarship information sessions in Ghana.

We are looking for 10 online volunteers to support Young People We Care (YPWC) in researching and producing short, youth-friendly videos explaining scholarship opportunities.

Each volunteer will select one scholarship they are interested in or comfortable researching and produce a 3–5-minute video explaining its requirements, application process and practical tips for preparing a competitive application.

Volunteers with previous scholarship application or award experience are particularly encouraged to apply and share their insights.

Potential scholarships include:

Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals Oxford-Weidenfeld and Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships Gates Cambridge Scholarship Chevening Scholarships Commonwealth Scholarships Fulbright Scholarships DAAD Scholarships Australia Awards Scholarships

***Volunteers may also propose other relevant scholarship opportunities, subject to approval by YPWC.

Each video should explain the scholarship's eligibility criteria, benefits, application requirements, selection criteria and practical tips for preparing a strong application. Volunteers should use official sources to verify information and include links to the scholarship provider.

YPWC will coordinate scholarship selections to ensure diversity and avoid duplication. Volunteers will work independently, following common content guidelines and branding materials provided by YPWC.

Expected outputs

Each volunteer will submit:

A brief research summary of the selected scholarship. A short video script or storyboard. One completed 3–5-minute scholarship explainer video. A short video description with official scholarship information and application links.

Videos may use slides, graphics, animation, screen recordings or other suitable visual techniques. They will be shared through YPWC websites, social media platforms and online youth events.

Applicants should have:

1) Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

2) An interest in scholarships, education and youth development.

3) Good research skills and the ability to identify and verify information from reliable sources.

4) The ability to explain complex information clearly and simply.

5) Basic skills or a strong interest in video production, digital storytelling or content creation.

6) The ability to work independently, meet deadlines and incorporate feedback.

Previous experience applying for or receiving a scholarship is an advantage, and such applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.

Professional video editing experience is not required. Volunteers should have access to a computer, reliable internet and basic video editing or presentation tools.
