The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within PFP works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize financial and non-financial support for children. Within this section, the purpose of the Corporate Partnerships Team is to drive impact, defined as financial resources in addition to other valuable assets and opportunities, in order to optimize the value of multi-dimensional partnerships with companies to achieve UNICEF’s strategic goals. The team supports key UNICEF Divisions with partnerships strategies as well as National Committees and Country Offices with their strategies for growth. The team also champions and drives global best practice, partnerships strategy, and issues guidance and policies globally. Team members also play a role in the relationship management of key partners.

For every child, a Champion

Under the general guidance of the Corporate Partnerships Manager, this post will optimize the financial and non-financial growth opportunities of a portfolio of high-impact partnerships with Corporates headquartered around the world. The incumbent will play a critical role in working with and advising UNICEF’s National Committees, who may co-manage these high-value partnerships, expanding them by geography or channel in order to leverage the greatest impact from the partnership for UNICEF. The incumbent will work closely with National Committees and lead the dissemination of knowledge and best practices in partnerships management, across UNICEF.

How can you make a difference?

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

1. Maximizes a small portfolio of high-value corporate partnerships that have the potential to grow exponentially in financial value over the next three years. This should be achieved in collaboration with the relevant National Committees, Country Offices, and relevant UNICEF Divisions.

  • Research new potential avenues of significant growth (e.g., grants, markets, brands, etc.)
  • Develop dedicated growth plans for key high-value growth opportunity partners including a high-level influencing strategy.
  • Develop relevant high-value propositions in line with identified growth opportunities.
  • Pitch new growth opportunities in line with the above strategy and in alignment with the relevant UNICEF offices/division.

2. Identifies, and coordinates with National Committees the partnerships for renewal, advises on renewal strategies and best practices, and expands large national partnerships into international ones.

  • Reaches the set renewal % rate and income targets.
  • Delivers upon the expansion income- and impact targets.
  • Coordinates, manages and disseminates regularly a global renewal & growth pipeline and planner.

3. Manages successfully internal and external stakeholders with a focus on excellence in:

  • Relationship management of the corporate partners.
  • Engagement with National Committees and Country Offices.
  • Intra-UNICEF stakeholder coordination – with Program Division, Communication, Contracting, and other engagement channels such as CSR, Innovations, and Advocacy.

4. Contributes to and coordinates elements necessary for the development and implementation of the UNICEF strategy, and the corporate fundraising plan and targets as necessary.

  • Acts as a global center of excellence in partnerships management including effective knowledge management and dissemination across the UNICEF family of partnerships management best practices, examples, and guidelines.
  • Enables participation of corporate partners in UNICEF, UN, and other platform meetings.

Deliverables:

Efficient and effective delivery against the above accountabilities will result in strong, strategic, and integrated management of a number of large international partnerships with corporates and critically a significant increase in financial support from the key partners identified for growth. This will secure a significant income for UNICEF’s programmes annually.

Efficiency from the incumbent in the execution of the above functions will furthermore result in best-in-class relationship management of these corporate partners, in an effective and satisfying work-relationship with the National Committees and Country Offices taking part in these partnerships, and inefficient intra-UNICEF stakeholder management.

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in International Development, International Relations, Business Management, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or relevant field is desired.
  • Alternative, a first-level University Degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Experience within a Corporate environment is desirable.
  • Experience with UN/UNICEF is an advantage.

Language requirement:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF PFP-Geneva is currently reviewing organizational changes; therefore, the exact future location of the post is still under consideration/to be determined. Candidates may be asked to commence duties remotely. Should the selected candidate be assigned and relocate, they may later be asked to relocate and be assigned to another location during the initial contract or assignment period.
