Duties and Responsibilities

In close collaboration and under the supervision of the Innovation Team, the intern is expected to undertake the following activities in relation to the Innovation Team deliverables for 2024: 1. Support in designing and implementing innovation activities and events that foster a culture of innovation in the organization. 2. Assist in the creation of branding, templates and promotional/ communication materials for innovation team presentations, campaigns, events and activities, and outreach platforms such as LinkedIn, SharePoint site, Webpage, and others. 3. Assist in designing the Innovation Team’s SharePoint pages and intranet team site to ensure visual appeal, smooth navigability, user-friendly experience, and platform’s purpose. 4. Assist in the creation of a Community of Practice on Generative AI, including the development of the community’s branding, templates, and communication materials. 5. Provide research assistance, collect, and analyze information/ data in areas related to corporate innovation. 6. Assist in the identification, promotion/ testing of existing and new innovative tools and solutions across ESCAP. 7. Provide other assistance as needed. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply as the proposed internship program will offer the opportunity to apply technical and practical knowledge of innovation principles and change management in the context of the United Nations. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned. Flexible arrangements are possible.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), preferably in the areas of Innovation Management, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Communications, Creative Design, or related areas; OR • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above). • Proficiency in graphic design tools is considered an advantage. • Proficiency in Office 365 and SharePoint development is considered an advantage. • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Experience with UI/UX and graphic design, digital marketing, innovation, and entrepreneurship are considered strong advantages.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
