Purpose for the job

Under the general guidance of the P3 Fundraising Specialist, supervisor of the post, and in close coordination with the PFP team, the incumbent is accountable for technical support and assistance in the design, execution, monitoring and evaluation of direct marketing campaigns for recruiting pledge donors as well as nurturing and cultivating relations with individual donors and audiences. Identify, increase and maintain contributions of individuals by building relationships and exploring new fundraising opportunities from various sources.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Support the strategic fundraising plan for corporate and major donors, including marketing, advertising and budget development activities to support strategic business goals. Develops an annual work plan after implementing the appropriate market research for the introduction and implementation of a methodical and profitable private sector and major donors fundraising programme, including a budget for expenses and projected revenues. Contributes to the preparation of the Country Office Annual Report, and other reports required by PFP Headquarters regarding to corporate, major donors and CPTP.
  2. Supports the preparation of the annual activity plan related to corporate and corporate pathway to pledge (CPTP) fundraising on children rights framed in the social & resource mobilization plan of the country office. Proposes key priorities, defines annual activity plans, establishes key performance indicators and provides relevant information on corporate and CPTP fundraising opportunities and trends in the country and its linkages with global initiatives lead by UNICEF.
  3. Prospects new partners both for the corporate and major donors streams and negotiates alliances related to individual pledge and donors. Manage relationship with established partners to obtain free of charge services or significant discounts. Propose new donation channels always addressed to individuals.
  4. Help analyzes and defines criteria to be adopted for the insertion and management of information at Donor Tracking and CRM systems. Apply analytical techniques to assess donor database defining segmentation. Evaluates implemented strategies’ results and adequate as needed.
  5. Motivates and inspires potential donors with a holistic and sustainable social responsiveness approach, by giving talks to groups or seeking opportunities with the media to advocate UNICEF mission. Increases funds by researching and targeting trusts individuals, whose criteria match UNICEF aims and activities, while nurturing and cultivating relationships with existing supporters and donors
  6. Help develops new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which involve organizing events, management and development of direct marketing campaigns for recruiting major and private sector donors.
  7. Approves disbursement of funds ensuring proper utilization and accountability, and those activities are within established plans of action, and the programme budget allotments.
  8. Undertakes market research and field visits to monitor and evaluate strategy implementation. Identifies problems and proposes remedial action. Identifies alternative courses of action, to accelerate/improve results.
  9. Help guides and supervises staff. Ensures their training needs are met and provides on-the-job training. Identify, recruit and supervise technical resources and consultants as necessary.
  10. Monitors compliance of work plan to ensure objectives and targets are met and achieved and measures the impact of actions and analyses, reviews, and reports on effectiveness of actions in an effort to maximize results.
  11. Liaises with the different Programme areas, civil society organizations, PFP Headquarters and National Committees for UNICEF whose support and proper coordination is essential to achieve corporate and CPTP fundraising objectives

RECRUITMENT QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

University degree in marketing, public relations or related areas. Desirable a specialization in any related field.

Academic background on discrimination on grounds of race, ethnicity, indigenous populations, caste, sexual orientation or disability is an asset.

Experience:

Minimum one year of progressively responsible work experience in marketing or sales areas, with experience developing alliances with corporates.

Work experience in an international organization or NGO will be an asset.

Experience working with minority groups, migrants, refugees, or with indigenous communities will be an asset.

Experience working on issues related to anti-racism and discrimination on grounds of race, ethnicity, indigenous populations, sexual orientation or disability will be an asset.

Languages:

Fluency in English and Spanish are required.

Knowledge of a local language of the duty station (as quechua, aimara, and amazonic) is considered an asset.
