Purpose of the job

To support the implementation of the Strategic framework on CRB in the Latin American and Caribbean region and help foster the input and participation of Latin American companies and COs in global CRB – CRB initiatives and to support national COs in their CRB strategic planning and initiatives as well as leading capacity building in the region.

  1. Support the implementation of Strategic Framework on CRB and Advocacy in the region; also provide Technical Inputs for the region in

line with UNICEF’s Strategic Plan 2018-2021 which includes a HOW strategy on the importance of “harnessing the power of business and markets for children.

  1. Promote implementation of the Child Rights and Business Principles and tools: Advocacy with industry bodies, business industry associations and regional/national think tanks on CRB/ Business Responsibility.

  2. Provide Advocacy and technical support to Government and Civil Society Organizations: Support main governmental partners and civil

society partners of UNICEF country programme in interacting with the private sector to ensure that children’s rights are protected, in line with the CRC General Comment 16 on State obligations regarding the impact of the business sector on children's rights and the recommendation of the Committee on the Rights of the Child in its latest concluding observations.

  1. Support country offices in the region to develop strategies / intervention on CRB to increase an engagement/ participation of Government, companies and partners. Provide technical assistance to COs Build and cultivate Corporate Relations/Partnerships Management.

  2. At the regional level identifying and scoping potential corporate partners in line with the Regional Office programme priorities and section needs and developing MOUs and programme concept notes with inputs from the relevant sections. Work closely with programme sections to support the partnership with the private sector (or the regulation of the private sector) in implementing their programmatic activities.

  3. Provide oversight to COs to plan, implement, and monitor the CRB/CRBP Strategy as a main advocacy tool towards achieving programmatic results, annual workplan, periodic updates and other documentation as needed: Ensure that the elaboration of strategy paper and annual work plan is timely executed and followed up to support country programme priorities, regional and global directives.

  4. Act as a CRB/CRBP focal point in the regional office including documentation and institutional memory. Document and share best practices on CRB among relevant colleagues.

  5. Provide support in other related tasks, such as internal training, participation to the integrated corporate team meetings, etc.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Development, Business, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Administration, or anotherrelevant field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience is required in corporate social responsibility including specific experience in cultivating relations with external partners, either in the public or the private sector. Familiarity with government and/or programmatic corporate engagement would be an asset.
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Good communication, coordination and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas.
  • Good analytical, persuasive and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish andEnglish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Otherwise, the selection will be cancelled.
