ITS Vice Presidency Context:

Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations.

Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group.

ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform.

Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The second is to provide the Bank Group with value for money with selective and standard technologies. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization.

Unit context

As a unit within the WB Operations and Corporate (ITSOC), the Information and Knowledge Solutions unit (ITSKS) is seeking a Core Framework Engineer with strong technical skills to join a growing team in Sofia to help ITSOC reach its goals of optimizing its global delivery model. The position will entail liaising and closely collaborating with various teams and groups within ITSOC and will work closely with developers, solution architects, product owners, the design and engineering teams with an emphasis on best practices in enterprise architecture, modular design of solutions, and appropriate integration of IT services or platforms. We are looking for an individual who will make continual efforts to ensure that our solutions meet client expectations and deliver customer value and satisfaction.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The candidate will work closely with solution architects, platform owners, product owners and engineering teams to deliver the following:

•Develop enterprise-grade UI platform and design system to accelerate the development of applications.

•Stay up to date with industry trends in the front-end application development ecosystem and contribute to the enhancements of the platform to improve the consuming developer experience.

•Leverage design and architecture best practices to ensure quality solution delivery.

•Collaborate with multiple functional and technical teams to build usable products.

•Leverage emerging technologies including DevOps, micro-services-based architectures, containers, and other cloud-based technologies to continuously improve the solution.

Selection Criteria

•Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with 2 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

•3+ years of hands-on experience developing web applications using Angular, Bootstrap and REST APIs.

•3+ years of experience integrating with enterprise-grade applications

•Knowledge of emerging technologies including DevOps, micro-services-based architectures, containers, lambda etc.

•Experience with Application Performance and End-User-Monitoring tools like AppInsights, Adobe Analytics, SPLUNK etc.

•Experience working with distributed and diverse teams to deliver quality products

•Maturity to participate in multiple complex programs at the same time in an Agile environment.

•Proven ability to work and juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines

•Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment; excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

Note: “The selected person will be hired on two years renewable Term contract which can be extended based on business needs and performance."
