UNESCO has been assisting member states in strengthening the capacity of diverse stakeholders in this area. UNESCO has made available numerous resources and learning materials thus far, which include [the UNESCO Military Manual (2016).](http://www.unesco.org/new/fileadmin/MULTIMEDIA/HQ/CLT/pdf/MilitaryManuel-En.pdf) Responding to the growing need for online training materials, UNESCO and the Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) developed **an** [**Online Course**](https://www.peaceopstraining.org/courses/unesco-protection-of-cultural-property/) **for the Military, Police and Law Enforcement** on the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts and peace operations. This self-paced e-learning course provides a detailed understanding of the international legal framework and use of normative instruments for the protection of cultural property in time of peace, and during and after armed conflict. It aims to support the implementation of international rules by giving detailed explanation and practical examples for men and women to be deployed in peace missions. This new and unique online course provides a tool to clarify the role of cultural property protection in achieving long-lasting peace and social cohesion and assist States Parties to the [1954 Convention for the protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict](http://www.unesco.org/new/en/culture/themes/armed-conflict-and-heritage) and its two Protocols to response to the needs of the field and meet the major challenges of today, among which conflict prevention and management are at the forefront. **Assignment** -------------- Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist for Culture, a consultant shall copy-edit the Arabic manuscript of **“Protection of Cultural Property: Online Course for the Military, Police and Law Enforcement”** **and Exam** (approx. 70 pages in Arabic), including a list of abbreviations and acronyms, figures and boxes, references/bibliography. The consultant shall: 1. Copy-edit the Arabic manuscript to ensure; 1. 1. 1. 1. - Accuracy of translation, filling gaps and suggesting improvements where needed; - Clarity of structure and meaning, continuity of arguments and flow of ideas, and avoidance of redundant content; - Internal consistency in terms of both content and style as well as consistency between the Arabic and English versions; - Coherence between statistical data referenced in the text and data in respective tables, figures, and boxes; - Readability and professional writing style; - Detection and removal of plagiarism; - Gender and cultural/political sensitive language; - Check references cited, either in footnotes or in the bibliography, and ensure that the sources of all quotations, numerical figures, tables, and figures are clearly indicated; - Verify heading/tables/figures numbering and align the table of content page numbering with the body of document; Long Description ---------------- 2\. Submit the draft copy-edited version in Arabic to UNESCO for feedback; 3\.
