The UNDP Global Centre is concluding a major research project focusing on redefining ‘Smart Cities’. This research will be published in a report, with an intended audience of UNDP Country Offices and their local and national government partners. The publication is substantively complete and already laid out in an 82 page InDesign file. However, further, peer-review has provided additional content (approx 6-7 pages) that needs to be added to the document in keeping with the current style and format. The Online Volunteer will add this content into the file, and provide copy-editing support

Smart cities have traditionally been a term associated with the intensive use of technology and data in cities, but this tech-centric definition has often limited the term to cities in high-income settings. In this publication, we present the idea that there is no one single definition of a ‘Smart City’. Instead, we identify Smart Urban Innovations, as new or innovative approaches to identify and develop solutions that different cities across the globe have been exploring and explore how they can be enhanced. The Online Volunteer will be expected to deliver: • A final print-ready version of the report; • A final web-friendly PDF version of the report (including a compressed version for lower-bandwidth users); • A set of 3-5 graphics, drawn from the report, that can be used in PowerPoint presentations; • At least five iterations of the above outputs, in response to (prompt) feedback from the UNDP Global Centre.
