To strengthen Brazil’s capacity to both as COP30 president and actively participate in negotiations, the "Project BRA/24/007" was developed. This project will mobilize partnerships and foster social participation to generate technical, logistical, and substantive inputs, not only for the COP30 presidency (2024-2026) but also for the Brazilian negotiating delegation at COPs 29, 30, and 31, as well as intersessional meetings and pre-COPs.
The project highlights the urgency of stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations to prevent dangerous human-induced interference with the climate system. In response to this challenge, incoming Brazilian presidency objective is to organize a “turning point COP” aiming to keep the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C within reach, an effort known as "Mission 1.5". The project is structured around four key components:
i.Establishment and implementation of a project management, knowledge, and communication strategy; ii.Provision of technical and substantive support to the Brazilian negotiating delegation at COPs 29, 30, and 31, as well as during intersessional and pre-COP meetings; iii.Provision of technical, logistical, and substantive support to the COP30 Presidency from 2024 to 2026; iv.Efficient project management.
