This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Team Leader or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Coordination and K****nowledge M****anagement Specialist (****Regional Judges’ Forum interactive platform****) will:

  1. Facilitate knowledge build and share
  • Generate and disseminate relevant content related to the work of judges in the context of HIV, TB and co-morbidities and for the increased protection of key populations at higher risk of HIV - by connecting Judges for interactive peer to peer exchange, linking Judges to key resources on the platform.
  • Guide and collaborate with communication colleagues in IRH and the country offices to ensure that relevant work and interventions are shared and have visibility.
  • Facilitate active participation and inputs from judges and relevant partners in the region
  • Prepare quarterly newsletters, articles, blog posts, videos, e-discussions, webinars etc.

2. Build and maintain partnerships

  • Maintain a list of relevant partners expertise including judges, lawyers, prosecutors etc.
  • Making relevant linkages to the work and information generated by other Judges’ from outside the EECA Region including the Africa Judges’ Forum and work conducted to build the capacity of judges in the Latin America region

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

An advanced degree (masters or higher) in law, international law or human rights, public health, international relations, or other relevant

Required experience:

60 Months

Experience remark:

At least 5 years of professional work experience at national or international level in human rights, international law, health, development, public relations, communications or advocacy on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Russian(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Ukrainian(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Area of expertise:

Human rights, International law, Knowledge management, archiving and documentation

Area of expertise details:

Area of expertise: Human rights, international law, health, knowledge management, archiving and documentation, Public information and reporting. Knowledge of HIV pandemic in the EECA region is an added advantage.

Area of expertise details:

  • Strong understanding on HIV, human rights, gender equality issues
  • Expertise on managing web-based knowledge management systems
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and experience in social media outreach
  • Expertise on partnership relations

The incumbent must be a dynamic, multi-functional person, with professionalism, dedication and client orientation, and must be willing both to work on programmatic/substantive aspects and to provide organizational services (e.g. for e-discussions, webinars etc.).

The following competencies are required:

  • Ability to communicate sensitively, effectively and creatively across different constituencies
  • Strong knowledge of managing web-based knowledge management systems
  • Strong understanding of production, graphic design and photography standards
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and experience in social media outreach
  • Oral and written communication and editing skills in English and Russian, at native speaker level
  • Strong communication, networking and advocacy skills
  • Ability to provide advice and be strategic and analytical
  • Good knowledge of local media landscapes
  • Knowledge of human rights, health and gender issues is an asset
