Organizational Setting

The Department of Management’s Division of General Services (MTGS) provides support functions to the IAEA through its four Sections, namely the Archives and Records Section (ARMS), the Commissary Management Section (CMS), the Facilities Management and General Support Section (FMGSS) and the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS). Among the five Sections, the Seibersdorf Laboratories Services Section (SLSS) provides site operation technical and administrative services to the work of the IAEA’s laboratories. SLSS services include facilities, technical, engineering, property and transport management, and site security through its management of the Seibersdorf Protective Force (SPF). The Section has a diverse complement of 35 staff, including technicians, drivers, procurement assistants and IT support. The armed SPF provides around-the-clock security for the site.

Main Purpose

Reporting to the Administrative and Budget Officer and under the direct guidance of the Cook/Cafeteria Supervisor, the Cook assists in providing services to a full-fledged cafeteria services for the staff of Seibersdorf Laboratories. In addition, he/she assists in organizing the IAEA's official events related to VIP visits, and the management of soft-drink vending machine.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Cook and serve the high standard, multinational/traditional main meals (lunches) as well as sandwiches, salad, soups and desserts.
  • As delegated by the Cook/Cafeteria Supervisor, check food preparation, cleaning of cutleries and kitchen premises by the outsourced companies based on the required hygienic standards.
  • Maintain the dining area in a presentable manner.
  • Operate the kitchen with required safety standards.
  • Assist the Cook/Cafeteria Supervisor in preparing monthly menu plans for international customers, purchasing and having delivered raw food and required ingredients, properly storing food in the cold and deep-freeze rooms, designing and announcing the meal sequence, and computing appropriate prices.
  • Participate, to the extent possible, in the post-lunching cleaning activities.

  • Completed secondary education. Post-secondary training/diploma in international cooking by a recognized institute.

Remuneration

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 39488 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
