This is an exciting opportunity to provide expertise in regard to financial management, policies, procedures, systems, and tools, and ensure compliance with NRC policies and external regulations.

What we are looking for

NORCAP is seeking a highly qualified Controller with documented previous experience as a Finance Advisor /Controller or similar positions preferably in the humanitarian programme.

What you will do

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide financial advice, guidance, and support in the development of new projects and applications and review of agreements.
  • Follow up on financial compliance of the New Consortium with NORCAP as the Lead.
  • Contribute to ensure that financial reports and audit reports are submitted within the timeframes outlined in the partner agreements.
  • Contribute to the implementation of NORCAP’s strategies by Use of data and technology to improve our impact and Strengthen quality, accountability, and learning.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Finance Advisor /Controller or similar positions preferably in humanitarian programs.
  • Comprehensive educational background and working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures in relation to accounting, financial controls, procedures and financial information systems.
  • Experience of working in finance or risk and compliance. Knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Experience with different humanitarian donor grants and requirements.
  • Professional knowledge and experience with Excel and ERP-systems (preferably UNIT4 Business World (Agresso)).
  • Ability to provide financial management advice and guidance to colleagues, including undertaking internal checks and financial audits of projects.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Large capacity for work and ability to cope under pressure is an advantage.
  • Flexibility to handle changing priorities.
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Able to work independently, run processes and deliver timely end-results of good quality.
  • Experience with implementing change.

  • Duty station: NRC Head Office in Oslo.
  • Contract: national contract, 1 - year contract.
  • Salary/benefits: grade 9 on NRC’s regional salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
