You have:

  • A secondary school diploma or high school diploma is required.
  • First level of University degree or undergraduate degree (bachelor or equivalent) is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of administrative/operational experience in logistics and-or administration is required.
  • Knowledge of the UN system rules and regulations is an asset.
  • Experience working with international organizations and/or government counterparts is an asset.
  • Experience working with international contract and procurement is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Danish is an asset.

Result of Service

The IC will act under the direct supervision of Administrative Officer, Energy and Climate Branch, Climate Change Division and deliver the following outputs:

  • The key results directly affect the overall efficiency of UNEP-CCC’s ability to deliver professional and well-documented advisory services.
  • Timely and accountable delivery of services, ensures client satisfaction and promotes the image and credibility of the team and UNEP-CCC.

UN-City – Copenhagen office, with option for flexible working arrangement

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Energy and Climate Branch (ECB), located within the Climate Change Division, supports developing countries to improve energy efficiency and increase use of renewable energy as part of their efforts to achieve low-carbon and climate-resilient development pathways. It does so by providing guidance on sound policy, technology, and investment choices, and by facilitating knowledge generation and sharing, capacity building, peer learning and through technical assistance to developing countries.

This position is in the Energy and Climate Branch of the Climate Change Division, supporting UNEP CCC based in Copenhagen. The assistance of an Individual Contractor (IC) is required to provide support to the Chief of Administration and Contract Officer. The IC is requested to provide support in the areas of HR retainer recruitment, Procurement, implementing partner contracting and Due Diligence with a wide range of administrative functions as outlined below:

  • Conduct due diligence in accordance with the UNEP's process manual
  • Support the Implementing Partner contracting activities of the UNEP-CCC
  • Preparing Acceptance letters for Donors
  • Centralize the recruitment requests of individual consultants/retainers
  • Support and facilitate recruitment process through UNEP in Inspira
  • Support the UNEP-CCC travel focal point at peak loads related to multiple and/or big
  • Other duties upon request

Qualifications/special skills

• A secondary school diploma or high school diploma is required. • First level of University degree or undergraduate degree (bachelor or equivalent) is an asset. • A minimum of 5 years of administrative/operational experience in logistics and-or administration, with demonstrated capacity to meet performance indicators and deliver results is required. • Knowledge of the UN system rules and regulations is an asset. • Experience working with international organizations and/or government counterparts is an asset. • Experience working with international contract and procurement is an asset.

Skills and Competencies: • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). • Great teamwork, coordination and planning skills, attention to detail, punctuality, and problem-solving skills. • Excellent written and oral communications. • Ability to manage information objectively, accurately and confidentially. • Ability to work well under pressure, with flexibility and adaptability amidst evolving circumstances. • Ability to identify and execute tasks independently with thoroughness and care. • Ability to thrive with multicultural teams

Languages

• Fluency in English is required, knowledge of Danish is an asset.
