To improve individual donors’ loyalty and satisfaction, UNICEF China Partnerships and Innovation section plans to revamp its existing donor retention journey. To expand content production capacity in support of this new initiative and others, UNICEF China is looking for a talented digital content professional with a strong track record of gaining deep insights into the target audiences, developing creative concepts, and writing compelling copy for digital channels, including character-driven feature stories, e-newsletters, Vlog/Plog, social media posts, ad copies, campaign landing pages and etc.

How can you make a difference?

You will report directly to a senior marketing officer and work in close collaboration with the fundraising team and other sections.

You are expected to make a difference in the life of children by delivering the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Draft communication materials for China-programme monthly pledge donor journey use

Develop and deliver donor communication materials (China progamme focused) tailored for the specific donor personas, as per individual fundraising team’s briefs, project timeline, and quality standards.

2. Draft content for the global emergency monthly pledge donor journey use

Develop retention content for the global emergency monthly pledge donor journey (Global humanitarian programme focused). Conduct desk research, identify, and localize global humanitarian work-related assets into Chinese, and adapt them for donor retention journey use, as per briefs, timelines, and quality standards.

3. Support donor online and offline community outreach and engagement

Work with the team to pilot, plan, and implement online and offline donor community engagement and interactions, to create an exclusive experience that can differentiate UNICEF’s donor benefits/incentives.

4. Other tasks assigned by the supervisor

These may include but are not limited to assisting and backup other team members to ensure business continuity of marketing services; the Inspired Gifts WeChat account management and social posts development; donor online portal interaction contents, ad hoc content adaptation, and others.

In summary, under the general supervision of the senior marketing officer, you will be responsible for generating marketing content suitable for donor retention purposes.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

  • A University degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Chinese Language and Literature, or a related field.

Experience and skills

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with at least one-year practical professional work experience in Chinese-language content marketing, copywriting, journalism, marketing communications, advertorial, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
  • Strong portfolio in Chinese-language creative storytelling on digital channels and social media platforms, and proven experience in delivering content from start to end with minimum supervision, such as digesting briefs, creative ideation, drafting, and revision based on feedback until finalization.
  • Experience in digital fundraising or private sector fundraising areas such as acquisition, conversion, retention, loyalty, and multi-channel content development is an advantage.
  • Be creative, self-motivated, collaborative, open-minded, able to adapt to new environments and build rapport with people of different national and cultural backgrounds, excellent time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals.

Language requirement

  • Fluency in Chinese and English is required.
