You have:

  • 7 years of relevant professional experience in content creation, communications, journalism, education, or media production.
  • Prior work in community engagement, development, education, or social impact projects is a strong asset.
  • Ability to write clear, compelling, and engaging texts for different formats (scripts, articles, social media, educational materials).
  • Experience developing scripts for videos, podcasts, or spoken formats.
  • Ability to create accessible, inspiring materials that mobilize and engage communities, especially in social or development contexts.
  • Ability to work effectively with graphic designers, video editors, and other creatives to ensure consistent messaging and visual coherence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners at different levels.
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines.
  • Sound security awareness.

Contract

This is a UNV National Expert contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Expert contracts.

UNDP supports strategic capacity development initiatives to promote inclusive growth and sustainable human development. Together with national, regional and local authorities, civil societies, and the private sector, UNDP strives to support Ukraine in its efforts to eliminate poverty, develop people’s capacity, achieve equitable results, sustain the environment, and advance democratic governance. UNDP aligns with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve national strategic capacity development.

This assignment is part of a UNDP «EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine» (EU4Recovery) project, which will ensure a multiplier effect by expanding key interventions at subnational level. EU4Recovery interventions are grouped under the following key objectives: - Target communities have increased access to quality public services that respond to the needs of all population groups, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable. - Community security is enhanced, and the social fabric is maintained in project target areas.

The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine (hereafter – the Ministry) has identified the need to support the “Shoulder to Shoulder” initiative - a national project aimed at uniting Ukraine’s rear and central territorial communities with the frontline territorial communities. Its primary goal is to support and restore frontline territorial communities, where a significant portion of critical infrastructure has been severely damaged or destroyed. The project embodies the solidarity of people from across the nation, the cohesion of Ukrainian territorial communities, and the unity of the country. In support of this effort, UNDP is seeking a Content and Visual Communications Expert. This expert will play a critical role in shaping the project’s narrative and driving public awareness about recovery initiatives and best practices. Through engaging visual and written content, the expert will inspire greater community

  • Develop scripts and storylines for videos, podcasts, and multimedia formats that highlight success stories and best practices in community cooperation and recovery efforts.
  • Develop clear, engaging, and inspiring written content for media outlets, websites, and social media platforms, tailored to resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Design and produce educational and motivational materials to strengthen community engagement, foster solidarity, and promote best practices in crisis recovery and governance.
  • Collaborate closely with graphic designers and other creative team members to ensure that all materials align with the project’s visual identity and messaging goals.
  • Systematically assess the impact and effectiveness of all produced materials, gathering feedback from stakeholders and communities, and revise content to maximize impact and engagement.
  • Support the development of a broader communication strategy that positions the project as a catalyst for positive change, fosters inter-municipal partnerships, and builds trust between communities and national stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for knowledge sharing and continuous learning, incorporating lessons from both local and international best practices.

As it is a national UN Volunteer's assignment, the volunteer shall organize his/her accommodation by themselves.

This is a full-time assignment. The contract lasts for the period indicated in the vacancy with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.

Allowances: • Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) 2,076 USD (equivalent in UAH) is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost of living expenses. This includes Well-Being Differentials for the period while the ICSC applies hardship classification to duty stations in Ukraine as “E”. • USD 400 entry lump sum, one-time payment. • USD 101.78 exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment) for each month served, paid on completion of contract.

Medical and life insurance:

• The UN Volunteer and eligible PFU dependents will receive UNV provided medical insurance coverage. Coverage for UN Volunteers begins from the Commencement of Service and normally ceases one month after the last day of the UN Volunteer Contract date. • Life Insurance: UN Volunteers are covered by life insurance for the duration of the UN Volunteer assignment. If a UN Volunteer dies during the UN Volunteer assignment, the eligible designated beneficiaries will be entitled to receive a life insurance lump sum.

Leave entitlements: • Annual leave: UN Volunteers accrue an entitlement to 2.5 days of Annual Leave per completed month of the UN Volunteer assignment. Unused accrued Annual Leave up to a maximum of 30 days is carried over in case of a contract extension within the same UN Volunteer assignment. Unused accrued Annual Leave may not be carried over in case of reassignment or a new assignment. • Learning leave: Subject to supervisor approval and exigencies of service, UN Volunteers may request up to ten working days of Learning Leave per consecutive 12 months of the UN Volunteer assignment, starting with the Commencement of Service date, provided the Learning Leave is used within the contract period. • Certified Sick Leave: UN Volunteers are entitled to up to 30 days of certified sick leave based on a 12-month cycle. This amount is reset every 12-month cycle. • Uncertified Sick Leave: UN Volunteers receive seven days of uncertified sick leave working days in a calendar year. This amount will be reset at the established interval period.
