Result of Service- Develop and produce social media driven ideas harnessing video producers, technology producers, graphic designers, and editors which engage audiences. - Develop social media content, strategies and activations devising cohesive digital journeys and engagement strategies at various stages of the UNDRR social media campaign. - Conduct qualitative research pertaining to specific social media focused ideas and research target markets and help identify select audiences that should be targeted for specific campaigns. - Monitor the existing social media landscape to understand what exists, which audience segments are already engaged, and which are not and propose calls to action based off the audience segment being targeted. - Report on the effectiveness of ROAS social media channels, campaigns, and level of progress - Provide thorough content and high-quality review for ROAS communication materials in line with ROAS communication plan and related activities - Ensure improvement in ROAS media relations and press engagement and support ROAS media exposure

Duties and Responsibilities Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG), United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction has over 100 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices. Specifically, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction guides, monitors, analyses and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with U.N. Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community.

This consultancy position is located in the UNDRR Regional Office for Arab States. This Content and Social Media Management Consultant duties can be done remotely, and the consultant will work directly under the direction and supervision of the External Relations Officer of ROAS.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the External Relations Officer, the consultant will be responsible for: 1- Produce high quality content for ROAS communications and media channels including social media and digital portals 2- Conduct data analysis and Identify opportunities for creating and delivering inspiring and attractive multimedia content about the work of ROAS 3- Support Advance ROAS social media channels and improve its reach, engagement, and positioning 4- Manage ROAS social media channels content, posts and planed social media campaigns 5- Provide valuable enhancement to the creation and/or delivery of communications activities and products such as written content, newsletters, case studies, including infographics and any other related work of ROAS 6- Strengthen ROAS media relations and press coordination, especially during the UN Climate Change Conference 2022

Qualifications/special skills Skills: - Excellent copywriting, refined writing skills and editing experience in Arabic & English languages is required; - Proven knowledge in social media management and reporting is required; - High level knowledge in digital and marketing solutions is required; - Fast, accurate, creative and versatile writing skills, including for digital media is required; - Experience in creating and engaging social media assets and image editing is required; - Ability to analyze complex information quickly and simply for audiences is desired; - Good political and personal judgment is desired; - Public Speaking (confidence in front of an audience) is desired; - Customer Service / Community Engagement is desired; - Strong ability to see newsworthy stories quickly and easily is desired; - Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Reader.

Academic Qualifications: - Advanced University degree in media, business, communications, administration, or marketing is required. - A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience: - At least 5 years of experience in communication and marketing production and solutions, and social media management, or any related field is required.

Language: - Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required;
