Duties and Responsibilities The 2022 Annual Results Report for the UN in Afghanistan will be developed to capture the progress and achievement of the Transitional Engagement Framework (TEF) of Afghanistan in 2022. The report is expected to showcase how the UN is turning the collective promise to leave no one behind into tangible actions and results for the people of Afghanistan. The report shall focus on system-wide results. The Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Afghanistan is seeking a consultant in the capacity of a writer/editor to draft the 2022 UN Results Report for Afghanistan based on the inputs received from the RCO, UNINFO data and other information received from the UN Agencies operating in Afghanistan. The consultant will be provided with relevant reading materials to facilitate the task such as: - The UN guidelines for UN Country Reports which include the template and structure of the report to be written. - Data and information from collected from UN Agencies and uploaded to UNINFO. - Agency-specific situation reports of their work undertaken in 2022. The consultant specific duties and responsibilities are: - The UN Country Results Report is prepared in accordance with the corporate template, including report cover as well as relevant annexes. - Solicit input for the results report from UN agencies with support from RCO - Edit, copyedit, and proofread draft inputs from agencies for consistent language and a holistic report telling a unified story. Flag issues requiring further elaboration and or clarification by the relevant team. - Draft relevant report components as required from input and information provided. - Draft concise human-interest stories based on already produced articles by agencies throughout the year. - Ensure correctness of report language (i.e. use of grammatically correct language, spellings, politically appropriate language among others), tone and style, adhering to the UN Country Report guidelines and results language. - Work with the relevant team to revise the report following amendments and clarification and to respond to feedback from the Resident Coordinator's Office following review, as necessary. - Submit a finalized report to the office within the indicated timeline.

Expected Outputs and Deliverables:

Under the guidance of the Resident Coordinator, and overall supervision of the Head of the RCO, the selected consultant will be responsible for preparation, implementation and administration of the assignment, which includes but is not limited to: - Annotated Outline of the Report based on consulting documentations provided by the RCO - Draft 1 of the Annual Results Report - Final draft of the Annual Results Report

Output - Write the UNCT Annual Result Report 2022. Deliverables: - Prepare the Outline of the Report is based on consulting documentations provided by the RCO. - Draft 1 of the Annual Results Report Timeline: Within weeks 1-4 of the assignment. (Percentage of Payment – 50%) - Final draft of the Annual Results Report Timeline: Within weeks 5-7 of the assignments. (Percentage of Payment – 50%)

Review and Approval: Deliverables shall be reviewed by the RCO team and UN Agencies Focal Points

Qualifications/special skills- Masters or Bachelors in English, Social sciences, communications or journalism major preferred - Minimum 7 years of relevant experience for master’s degree and minimum 9 years of experience for Bachelor’s Degree; - Experience as a journalist or content writer is an asset; - Proofreading or editor experience is an asset; - Experience in the areas of economic/rural development, poverty analysis, development and planning is an asset; - Experience with UN agencies and their mandates is an asset; - Having published (UN) products is an asset.

Competencies and special skills requirements: - Proofreading and editing skills. - Fluency in English with excellent written communication skills, and strong experience in writing reports.

Languages - Excellent proven written and spoken English and presentation skills; - Excellent communication; interpersonal and teamwork skills; - Excellent report writing skills
