UNICEF Bulgaria is looking for a national consultant to design training materials and short practical guidelines for the application of screening test for identification of children at risk of developmental difficulties at kindergarten level and to conduct trainings of teachers and specialists to apply the instrument

How can you make a difference?

  1. Development of training materials, incl. presentations, working sheets, feedback forms for the application of screening test for identification of children at 3-3.5 years old at risk of developmental difficulties. The materials need to address the level of knowledge of directors, teachers and specialists.
  2. Development of short practical guidance which address key challenges in application of the screening test – such as how is the instrument communicated to parents, how is it interpreted, etc.
  3. Provision of trainings as follows:
    1. 1 short workshop for directors of pilot kindergartens
    2. 1 group of specialists at Regional center for supporting the process of inclusive education /RCSPIE/ Burgas
    3. 1 group of specialists from the pilot kindergartens under EUCG in Burgas
    4. 1 group for specialists from kindergartens and RCSPIE Sliven
    5. 1 group of specialists at RCSPIE Stara Zagora
    6. 1 group of specialists from the pilot kindergartens under EUCG in Stara Zagora
    7. 2-3 short workshops for teachers (after trainings provided by MoES) – one for each region

The consultancy is expected to take place in the period September 2021 - March 2022 for up to 30 days.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- An advanced university degree (Master's) in special education, Pedagogy, Phycology, speech therapy or related field.

- Extensive knowledge and practice in relation to inclusive education of children with disabilities in kindergartens

- Good knowledge and practice in applying the screening test in kindergartens

- Previous experience with UNICEF is an advantage.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
