UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfilling their potential.
Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.
And we never give up.
For every child, a better future
UNICEF works to ensure the rights of all children in the East Asia and Pacific Region. This means the rights of every child living in this country, irrespective of their nationality, gender, religion or ethnicity, to:
- survival – to basic healthcare, peace and security;
- development – to a good education, a loving home and adequate nutrition;
- protection – from abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labour and other forms of exploitation; and
- participation – to express opinions, be listened to and take part in making any decisions that affect them
How can you make a difference?
The WASH Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to support both male and female professional WASH staff to create more gender equal WASH sections in the region through training and clinics.
To identify priorities for the EAP Women in WASH initiative for 2021-2023, a survey was conducted in March 2021 of all women in the functional area in EAP. Leadership development was identified as a priority action for women looking to advance their careers to higher grade levels, while training for teams and managers on gendered workplace dynamics was broadly supported across staff levels. This consultancy is envisioned to support both women and men to create more gender equal WASH sections in the region.
Work Assignment:
In consultation with both regional WASH and HR colleagues, the consultant will prepare and deliver:
- Orientation for WASH managers on gendered leadership.
- Clinic with the EAPR WASH Section Chiefs on gendered leadership.
- A 6-8-week training on leadership for around 10 women in WASH.
- One-to-one coaching for women interested in moving to a higher-grade level, with development of individual coaching plans.
- Summary report of work completed under the assignment including recommendations for future actions.
The activities under this consultancy will contribute to a more gender-equal and inclusive working environment within WASH sections in EAP.
