Background:** The Section for Inclusive Quality Education (IQE) is one of the two education sections of UNESCO Bangkok that aims to enhance UNESCO Member States’ capacity to provide equitable, inclusive and quality basic education for all in the Asia-Pacific region. IQE is responsible for six programme areas, namely (i) Education 2030 regional coordination, (ii) education planning and management, (iii) basic education from early childhood to the secondary level, (iv) inclusive education and gender equality, (v) quality of education, and (vi) education for health and well-being. In line with UNESCO's global strategy, IQE is emphasizing gender mainstreaming in all of its programmes. This position is based in the Education for Health and Well-being Team (HWT/IQE) that coordinates UNESCO’s work on young people’s health and well-being issues and the promotion of safe, inclusive, gender-equitable, and health-promoting learning environments. The team provides technical assistance to national education authorities, regional partners and UNESCO field offices on strategic priority areas of school health. Priority areas include comprehensive sexuality education (CSE); safe and enabling learning environments that are free from all forms of violence (including school-related gender based violence – SRGBV) and address learners’ mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) needs; transformative curricula and teaching that enable socials and emotional learning (SEL; and school health promotion. Programme, policy and advocacy efforts are focused on COVID-19 education sector recovery and resilience and supporting national and global commitments in follow up to the September 2022, Transforming Education Summit. The Education for Health and Well-being Team also collaborates with other UN agencies and partners on regional and national initiatives on these themes. Objective:** The Consultant shall provide technical and implementation support to a series of events and capacity-building activities implemented by the Education for Health and Well-being team (HWT) of the Section for Inclusive Quality Education (IQE), under the direction and guidance of the Regional Advisor, Education for Health and Wellbeing. The Consultant will work in close collaboration with team members of the Education for Health and Wellbeing and the Gender team of IQE, specifically to provide logistic, communication and technical support, as needed, in the organization and delivery of the following: 1\) (Sub) regional, in-person meetings: Event #1: Global Working Group to End School-Related Gender Based Violence - Asia Pacific Learning Symposium, 25 – 27 April 2023, Bangkok. The event will be co-organized by UNESCO and UNGEI, in collaboration with Safe to Learn, UNICEF and UNFPA. About 65 participants including representatives of MoEs, CSOs and youth communities are expected to attend the event. Event #2: Focal point meeting of the Gender in Education in Asia-Pacific (GENIA) Network, 27 April 2023, Bangkok, Thailand. About ten GENIA focal points are expected to attend. 2\) Sub-regional Capacity-building, in-person workshop: Event #3: Enabling countries’ commitments and follow up to the Transforming Education Summit (TES), a Workshop for Southeast Asian Countries, 1-5 May 2023, in Bangkok (specifically, gender mainstreaming workshop activities). The event will be co-organized by UNESCO Bangkok and the secretariats of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN. About 50 participants are expected to attend. Long Description ---------------- **III. Work Assignment** Under the authority of the Director of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, the supervision of the Chief of Inclusive Quality Education Section at UNESCO Bangkok, and direct guidance of the Regional Advisor on Education for Health and Well-being, the incumbent will provide technical and implementation support to three upcoming HWT activities linked to the following initiatives: 1\) (Sub) regional, in-person meetings: Event #1: Global Working Group to End School-Related Gender Based Violence - Asia Pacific Learning Symposium, 25 – 27 April 2023, Bangkok. Under the assignment, the Consultant will perform the following specific tasks: Pre-event a) Contribute technical inputs to, and review of draft versions of event concept notes, meeting agendas, participant lists, meeting delivery materials and resources and meeting outcome products, as required; b) Assist in communication and advocacy support, including through preparation of event web articles, announcements and social media messaging, as appropriate; c) Provide liaison support between event co-organizers and follow-up on agreed event planning timelines and milestones; d) Coordinate and monitor dispatch of meeting invitations and participant confirmations; e) Provide support on travel arrangements for participants and liaise with other external UNESCO service providers for meeting logistics; f) Liaise with the meeting venue/hotel for accommodation for meeting participants and meeting arrangements; g) With reference to the event #1, liaise with event co-organizers to identify materials for exhibition/showcase during the meeting; draft an exhibition/showcase display plan; h) Manage relevant communication with meeting participants and meeting facilitators/trainers; During the actual meeting period i) Participate in, and support the smooth delivery of the meeting as part of the event organizing team; j) Support administrative processes and procedures related to the meeting, including event registration and as on-site participant/ facilitator support focal point; k) Collect all supporting documents (e.g. flight boarding passes, bills, receipts) related to the meetings for documenting and settling meeting expenses. Post-event l) Draft a short summary on the key agreements and outputs as a result of the meeting; m) Assist in preparing and dispatching certificate of meeting attendance for participants, as required, and provide post-event communication with participants. In line with UNESCO’s overall gender mainstreaming strategy, the individual consultant is expected to integrate a gender perspective in all activities and apply gender analysis and mainstreaming concepts whenever feasible. **IV. Deliverables and Timeframe:** Submit to UNESCO Bangkok the following deliverables: Deliverables Deadline for Submission 1 Progress update summary on the status of the preparation of events #1 and #2 20 April 2023 2 Draft web announcement on Events #1 and 2; and a draft short summary on the key agreements and outputs from the two meetings (one each for events #1 and #2) and a consolidated set of final meeting materials (one each for Events #1 and #2) 20 May 2023 3 A draft short summary on the key agreements and outputs from the gender mainstreaming activities (Event #3) and an end-of-assignment report 30 June 2023 **V. Duration of Contract** The select consultant will be required to work on a daily basis for a period of three months during **March 2023 to June 2023** (a maximum of 66 working days.) **VI.
