"Promoting the participation of Women and Young People in the mining sector in the Great Lakes Region".

Objective of the Project a) Overall objective: Overall of this project aims to promote greater ownership and understanding by women and youth of the six RINR tools, including dissemination of knowledge on the most important national, regional, and international legal instruments that govern the mining sector. This will contribute to the inclusive and transparent management of minerals for peace and sustainable development in the Great Lakes Region.

b) Specific Objectives The specific objectives are: - Contribute to the preparation and effective implementation of the project's operational activities, in accordance with the agreed schedule. - Strengthen ownership by all actors of the ICGLR Guidelines for Gender Mainstreaming in the Mining Sector and of the ICGLR Strategy on Artisanal Gold, to promote effective implementation; - Improve the performance and compliance of mining actors, especially women and young people, through knowledge dissemination of the most important national, regional and international legal instruments. - Bring together the various key players at regional, national, and provincial level and facilitate better integration of women and young people in the mining sector.

Work Location Based in Nairobi OR Home-Based with travel to Entebbe Uganda, Bukavu and Lubumbashi DRC Congo, as well as Nairobi Kenya.

Expected duration Eight (8) Months. Effective 01 May 2023 to 31 December 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Preparation for Regional Workshops Tasks: Map women and youth in the mining sector; Contribute to the preparation of the project workshops to take place in Entebbe (Uganda), Bukavu and Lubumbashi (DRC), as well as in Nairobi (Kenya); which entails participation in consultations and workshop preparation meetings; preparation of framework notes for the various activities, drafting of meetings agendas, identification of participants & resource persons, and preparation and documentation for the various activities. Deliverables: Mapping of women and youth in the mining sector; (action points from preliminary consultations with stakeholders. Working documents Concept notes; draft agenda; list of participants for each activity; list of contact persons; invitation letters; documentation for each activity).

2. During the Activities Tasks: Contribute to the facilitation of the workshops; prepare the zero drafts of the activity reports to be validated by the participants. Deliverables: Draft Reports to be submitted for validation by the Participants.

3. After the Activities Tasks: Finalize the reports, disseminate to Participants, Monitoring & Evaluation of results. Deliverables Workshop reports finalized for all activities and sent to all Participants.

4. Reporting Tasks: Contribute to the preparation of narrative and financial reports based on the activities. Deliverables: Reporting Documents.

Qualifications/special skills An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law or related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations.

For the position advertised fluency in French (Oral and Written) is required.
