Work Location Home-based

Expected duration January - June 2024

Duties and Responsibilities Conduct desk-based research to identify existing relevant research and datasets.

Consult with experts.

Develop a research plan to identify detailed scope and methodology of the study.

Develop questionnaire to be submitted to relevant stakeholders.

Identify relevant stakeholders and distribute the questionnaire.

Collect and analyze data of questionnaire.

Prepare outline of the report to identify main sections based on the desk-based research.

Draft a report based on the findings of the questionnaire and the desk-based research, and finalize the report following supervisor’s feedback.

Draft a proposal to continue the research and analyse different dimensions of the topic.

Prepare presentations about the study.

Coordinate with supervisor.

Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. At least two (2) years working experience in the field of implementing research is required. Excellent research skills are required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Excellent report writing skills and ability to synthesize information are required. Familiarity with gender equality is required.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
