Duties and Responsibilities The consultant will work on the following activities: - Develop and implement security automation solutions: The Security Automation Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing security automation solutions to improve the security posture of the organization. This includes developing and maintaining automation scripts, tools, and workflows to automate security processes, such as vulnerability scanning, threat intelligence, and incident response. - Identify security risks and requirements: The Security Automation Specialist works closely with security analysts and other stakeholders to identify security risks and requirements, and to develop appropriate security automation solutions. This involves assessing security risks, analyzing security requirements, and selecting appropriate security automation tools and technologies. - Integrate security automation into incident response process: The Security Automation Specialist works closely with the security operations center (SOC) to integrate security automation into the incident response process. This involves developing and maintaining automated incident response workflows, such as automated notification and remediation, to ensure that security incidents are handled effectively and efficiently. - Continuously monitor and improve security automation: The Security Automation Specialist continuously monitors and improves the security automation solutions to ensure that they are effective in mitigating security risks. This includes keeping up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies and making recommendations for improvements and enhancements. - Provide technical expertise and support: The Security Automation Specialist provides technical expertise and support to other security professionals in the organization. This includes providing training and support for security automation tools and technologies and assisting with incident response activities. - Maintain documentation: The Security Automation Specialist maintains documentation of security automation solutions and processes, including scripts, tools, and workflows. This documentation is critical for maintaining the security posture of the organization and for ensuring compliance with security standards and regulations. - Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience for a bachelor's degree or a minimum of 1 year for a master's degree in developing scripts (Python, REGEX, Powershell, Shell, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various operating system flavours including but not limited to Windows, Linux, Unix
  • Exposure and experience working with security applications such as firewall, anti-virus, patch management, vulnerability management;
  • Experience of working and partnering with other technology teams to resolve cyber security incidents
  • Demonstrated experience in tasks automation including developing and maintaining automation scripts, tools, and workflows.
  • Experience of persuading technical individuals and teams who share different objectives and priorities to deliver the security activities expected from them
  • The ability to demonstrate a dynamic interest in solving information security issues; analytical ability to break down problems into constituent parts.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Azure certifications, e.g. AZ-900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
  • Hands-on experience with MS Power Automate

DELIVERABLIES:

1. Automate The process of Vulnerability Management Using Power Automate 2. Implement Automated workflow to automate the incident response for defined use cases. 3. Developing pipelines for automating the internal security operations

Contract Conditions ¿ The duration of the consultancy is 3 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds. ¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be on Grade 12 ($1,259.40 USD) and depend on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience. ¿ The incumbent will be based in Gaza.

Additional Information UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking an Security Automation Specialist that will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security automation solutions to improve the security posture of the UNRWA Cyber environment.

This role involves working closely with security analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify security risks and automate security processes to minimize or eliminate those risks.

The consultant will report administratively to Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarter Gaza and technically to the Head, Information Security Office at Headquarters Amman.
