How can you make a difference?

The Regional Human Resources Section, UNICEF East Asia Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking a qualified consultant to provide workshops, facilitated discussions, training, on Diversity and Inclusion topics, virtually to help staff to improve their understanding of the importance of Diversity and Inclusion to the workplace, and to start implementing best practices to create a psychologically safe workplace.

Work Assignment, Expected deliverable and Delivery schedule:

Assignment: To conduct a series of 2-hour of online workshops, followed by collection of feedback from participants, and summary of recommendations for next steps. These workshops will be conducted via zoom or other similar stable online learning delivery product (consultant’s own license). Software must be compatible with UNICEF computers and accessible by all participants. Using various teaching methodologies, organize and deliver online workshops to raise awareness of Diversity and Inclusion issues.

Topics could include but are not limited to:

• Intro to Diversity and Inclusion / Microaggressions

• Psychological safety

• Inclusive communication

• Unconscious biases

• Neurodiversity, minds of all kinds

• Power and privilege

• Inclusive design

• Diversity and Inclusion in recruitment, performance, inclusive communication, and HR

• Introduction to LGBT+ Allyship

• Workplace Allyship

• Inclusive Leadership

Expected deliverable: Conduct workshops on some of the topics (and any others as suggested by the consultant) identified above, in consultation with the contract supervisor. After each workshop, provide a short summary of recommendations. The total number of workshops will be confirmed in collaboration with the country offices in the region. It is expected that the 14 countries in the East Asia and Pacific region will be divided into up to 4 groups of countries to enable discussions in smaller groups. Therefore, workshops on the same topic will need to be repeated up to 4 times.

Delivery schedule: Each workshop will need to be scheduled in consultation between supervisor and selected candidate, depending upon local needs. The final number of workshops to be delivered is yet to be confirmed but it is expected that in 2023, workshops on at least two topics will be offered (total of 8 workshops). In 2024, workshops on at least 3 topics are expected to be offered (total of 12 workshops). These workshops should be delivered in the time zone of the country offices in East Asia and Pacific.

Duration of Contract: 15 August 2023 – 31 December 2024

Duty Travel: None, as the consultant is requested to work from home-country basis and to provide his/her own ICT and communication equipment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- Minimum 8 years’ experience as a trainer of high-quality international standard in the relevant areas.

- Previous Diversity and Inclusion instruction/ Workshop facilitation experience as an expert

- Previous experience with working within UN system in the relevant field

- Experience delivering in an On-line environment to adult-learners in a professional setting

The workshop fee should be all inclusive of time required for preparing, delivering, and also summarizing the feedback from each workshop – by 2 August 2023****.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
