The Individual Specialist will assist the Liaison Office with regards to its outreach and advocacy functions towards the European Institutions and partners in Brussels, notably by: - Contributing to timely communication on UNESCO activities of pertinence to the EU and the UNESCO-EU Partnership. - Maintaining and updating the Office’s website and social media accounts (Twitter/Facebook and Instagram) and monitoring monthly the results of the visibility activities of the Office. - Creating webpages on the Office’s website dedicated to the Horizon Europe projects implemented by the Office ([NBSINFRA](https://nbsinfra.eu/), [RESILIAGE](https://www.resiliage.eu/), [SYNERGIES](https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101121172)) in cooperation with the responsible Project Officer. In addition, the Individual Specialist will develop a dedicated webpage for the call for applications to select RESILIAGE Associated CORE Labs. Long Description ---------------- - Preparing news articles, stories and social media content about the UNESCO-EU partnership, results, and activities of UNESCO-EU funded projects. - Developing and designing specific media content and promotional campaigns, in collaboration with Programme sectors at UNESCO Headquarters and Field Offices. In particular, the Individual Specialist will create communication materials (banners, roll-ups, brochures, etc.) for UNESCO-led advocacy and capacity building events organized in the framework of the Horizon Europe projects implemented by the Office (NBSINFRA, RESILIAGE, SYNERGIES) in cooperation with the Project Officer and Communication lead partners. - Assisting the Office in continuing to enhance the working relationship with the United Nations team in Brussels by participating in the communication group meetings and by promoting joint UN activities in Brussels. - Liaising regularly with UNESCO Division for Communications and Public Engagement and the Communication and Project Officers in UNESCO’s field Offices. Long Description ---------------- **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education** - Advanced University degree (Master's or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, and/or political science. **Work** **experience** - A minimum of three years of working experience in public information, media relations, journalism, or international development cooperation, with at least one year in an international environment. - Previous working experience in writing news and managing social media platforms is required. **Skills and competencies** - Very good understanding of the European Institutions and their functioning. - Excellent knowledge of social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and design software such as Adobe Photoshop/InDesign. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in multicultural environment with external and internal partners. **Languages** - Excellent knowledge of English and French (written and spoken) **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- **Languages** - Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish). CONTRACT DURATION AND DELIVERABLES ---------------------------------- **CONTRACT DURATION AND DELIVERABLES** This Consultant Contract is for a period of 11 months. The assignment will be based in Brussels, Belgium.
