IQE is responsible for six programme areas, namely (i) Education 2030 regional coordination, (ii) education planning and management, (iii) basic education from early childhood to the secondary level, (iv) inclusive education and gender equality, (v) quality of education, and (vi) education for health and well-being. In line with UNESCO's global strategy, IQE is emphasizing gender mainstreaming in all of its programmes. This position is based in the Education for Health and Wellbeing Team (HWT/IQE) that coordinates UNESCO’s work on young people’s health and development issues and the promotion of safe, inclusive, gender-equitable, and health-promoting learning environments. The team provides technical assistance to national education authorities, regional partners and UNESCO field offices on strategic priority areas of school health and wellbeing. Priority areas include comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and the promotion of safe, inclusive, gender transformative and health-promoting learning environments. Programme, policy and advocacy efforts are focused on COVID-19 education sector recovery and resilience and supporting national and global commitments in follow up to the September 2022, Transforming Education Summit (TES). The Education for Health and Well-being Team also collaborates with other UN agencies and partners on regional and national initiatives on these themes. For additional information, please visit: **Work assignment:** Under the overall authority of the Director of UNESCO Bangkok, Asia and Pacific Bureau for Education, the overall supervision of the Chief of Unit for Inclusive Quality Education, and the direct supervision of the Regional Advisor on Education for Health and Well-being, the contractor will provide project support to the ongoing HWT/IQE activities, particularly on the following three main areas of focus: 1\) Support responsive, quality CSE for vulnerable learners both in and out of school 2\) Inter-agency collaboration and technical assistance to advance school health and learner well-being 3\) Mobilizing of youth and youth activists to partner with UNESCO in capacity building of youth LGBTIQ+ university networks for creating inclusive learning spaces 4\) Event management and promotion Long Description ---------------- Specifically, the contractor will perform the following tasks: **Support responsive, quality CSE for vulnerable learners both in and out of school** a) Draft a concept note for development of an e-learning module for orienting school heads and teachers on disability-inclusive CSE. **Inter-agency collaboration and technical assistance to advance school health and learner well-being** b) Support the planning and delivery of the Asia-Pacific regional launch in early June (dates TBC) of the Global Status report “Ready to learn and thrive: School health and nutrition around the world”. The launch event will be organized by UNESCO and other members of the Asia-Pacific Thematic Working Group on School Health, Nutrition and Well-being (TWG SHN &Well-being). Support includes: i) drafting a technical agenda and a PowerPoint presentation for a regional launch of the Global Status report “Ready to learn and thrive: School health and nutrition around the world”; ii) liaising with UNESCO HQs Section of Health and Education Team to support the customization of the global report’s findings with new data summaries specific to Asia-Pacific; and, iii) leading the drafting of promotional materials for the event, for dissemination via the public communication channels of UNESCO and its partners. c) Draft a joint workplan/content proposal (maximum 4 A4 pages) for immediate future collaboration between UNESCO and YouthLead, as partners in the Asia-Pacific Inter-Agency Task Team (IATT) on Young Key Populations in the AIDS response, for UNESCO’s continued policy and programme support to well-being needs of this group. d) Provide technical inputs into the content and delivery approaches for a technical and capacity-building session on safe and enabling learning environments, with southeast Asia ministry of education representatives at a sub-regional workshop organized by IQE in May (dates TBC) in follow-up to the global Transforming Education Summit. **Mobilizing of youth and youth activists as to partner with UNESCO in capacity building of youth LGBTIQ+ university networks for creating inclusive learning spaces** e) Draft consultancy TORs to be advertised by HWT for recruiting in two Asian countries, a local, youth-led or youth-serving coordinator/local collaborating partner for the design and implementation of youth-led advocacy initiatives in university settings in to champion LGBTIQ+ learner inclusion. f) Update TORs to recruit youth leaders and activists working in LGBTIQ+ inclusion in learning settings, as members of a regional reference group to guide HWT’s multi-country work on this theme. **Event management and promotion** g) Draft communication materials (e.g., a web article and social media tiles, etc.) to commemorate the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), 17 May 2023.
