The Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology (NEFW) comprises the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section, the Waste Technology Section, the Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation Section and the Research Reactor Section. The Division seeks to support Member States in building their capacity to access technologies, to share good practices and to develop safe and effective approaches across all aspects of research reactors, nuclear fuel cycle, decommissioning, radioactive waste management and environmental remediation.

The Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials Section (NFCMS) assists interested Member States in the development of safe, environmentally friendly, economically viable, proliferation-resistant and sustainable fuel cycle options and it encourages information exchange on the exploration, mining and processing of uranium and thorium, on the design, manufacturing and performance of nuclear fuels, on the management of spent fuel, and on the development of advanced and innovative nuclear fuels and fuel cycles.

Main Purpose

Provide technical expertise to the UPC Team in the preparation and implementation of the International Symposium on Uranium Raw Material for the Nuclear Fuel Cycle: Innovation for Sustaining Future Resources and Production (URAM-2023) to be held in Vienna from 8 to 12 May 2023, including the proceedings publication.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Compile peer-reviewed abstracts and papers, and prepare analyses of inputs quality for acceptance decision;
  • Liaise with external and internal participants to monitor final submissions;
  • Prepare meeting reports through participation in plenary and poster sessions and side-events;
  • Keep URAM-2023 Symposium website content up to date;
  • Compile technical information on specific topics related to Uranium Production Cycle and edit technical documents.

    Concrete Deliverables:

  • Updated dashboards of abstracts and papers' submissions by external and internal participants (end of March 2023);

  • External and internal participants informed of the acceptance/rejection of their submissions;
  • Updated dashboard to track funding of participants and invited speakers;
  • Finalized URAM-2023 scientific programme (end of April 2023);
  • Completion of the conference proceedings document for the International Symposium on Uranium Raw Material for the Nuclear Fuel Cycle: Innovation for Sustaining Future Resources and Production (URAM-2023);
  • Updated URAM-2023 Symposium website;

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's Degree - in Science
  • Computer and software skills (preferably Sharepoint and Indico);
  • Good communication skills. Fluent in English;
  • Experience in conference management, including abstracts and papers;
  • Experience in writing technical reports and documents.

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 150, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
