Conduct research and develop a policy brief on migrant health in Bahrain.
You have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution in Community of Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine or other related fields is required.
- A Master’s degree in Community of Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine or other related fields is desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the domain of medicine, including clinical experience is required.
- Experience in developing and delivering community outreach programmes in the area of health with migrants, refugees or other vulnerable groups is desirable.
- Experience with team management/supervision is required, preferably within the context of immigration/resettlement medical examinations.
- International experience in global public health issues, emergencies and policies is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities The Consultant will develop a policy brief on Migrant Health in Bahrain: Good Practices, Gaps and Challenges. It will include desk top research on the following themes: Health-Related Challenges & Risks What particular health-related challenges do migrants face in Bahrain? What particular health-related challenges do migrant women, and women migrant domestic workers in particular, face in Bahrain? What are the factors that inform health risks and outcomes amongst migrants in Bahrain (do different employment sectors correlate with risks and outcomes, for e.g., and how does gender, nationality, and other determinants affect outcomes?) What are common health emergencies amongst migrants, and what kind of support is available? Data Gaps What kind of data are available on migrant health (and what are the key gaps)? Access to services & care What barriers do migrants face in terms of access to quality healthcare? How does the legal and policy landscape inform the availability of quality healthcare for migrants? What are some regional good practices that might inform efforts to improve migrant health in Bahrain?
Qualifications/special skills A Bachelor's degree in Medicine from an accredited academic institution in Community of Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine or other related fields is required. A Master’s degree in Community of Public Health, Medical Specialization in Infectious Diseases, Tropical Medicine or other related fields is desirable. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the domain of medicine, including clinical experience (either in clinical set-ups or immigration / resettlement medical examinations or health assessments) is required The following are desirable:
- Experience in developing and delivering community outreach programmes in the area of health with migrants, refugees or other vulnerable groups;
- Experience with team management/ supervision is required, preferably within the context of immigration/resettlement medical examinations;
- International experience in global public health issues, emergencies and policies;
Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic representations as well as national and international institutions.
Languages Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
