The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) formulates and implements the IAEA's nuclear safety and security programme, which encompasses the IAEA's activities to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure, and responds to the needs of its Member States related to nuclear safety and nuclear security. The Office of Safety and Security Coordination (NSOC) is located in the Office of the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department. Its mission is to ensure the technical consistency and effective coordination of the IAEA's activities in the nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety and nuclear security programmes. NSOC comprises three Sections: the Programme and Strategy Coordination Section, the Networks Management and Partnership Section and the Safety Standards and Security Guidance Development Section.

The Office of Safety and Security Coordination is located in the Office of the Deputy Director General, Head of the Department. Its mission is to ensure the technical consistency and effective coordination of the IAEA's activities in the nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety and nuclear security programmes. The Office comprises three Sections: the Programme and Strategy Coordination Section, the Networks Management and Partnership Section and the Safety Standards and Security Guidance Guidance Development Section.

The mission of the Programme and Strategy Coordination Section (PSCS) is to ensure the effective development and coordinated implementation of Major Programme 3 and to provide for a common strategic approach to cross cutting areas such as capacity building.

Main Purpose

Under the supervision of the Section Head, Programme and Strategy Coordination Section (PSCS), Office of Safety and Security Coordination (NSOC), and in coordination with relevant staff in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security, the consultant will support the management system for the IAEA International School of Nuclear and Radiological Leadership for Safety. The consultant will support the planning, quality assurance, resource implementation, evaluation, and reporting on the project activities.

Functions / Key Results Expected

• Planning, tracking and documenting the project activities on the International School of Nuclear and Radiological leadership for Safety. • Consolidate and analyze evaluation results of past Schools • Compile, organize, review, edit and harmonize the training materials for the School, including the syllabus • Develop a management system for the pool of experts • Develop and apply a quality system for the case studies, dynamic exercises and lectures, including processes and application of templates for their development • Draft and edit outreach and advocacy materials and presentations for the School

Remuneration

The remuneration for this consultancy is a daily fee of up to a maximum of € 200, based on qualifications and experience. In case duty travel is required within the assignment, a daily subsistence allowance (DSA) and travel costs are provided. Health coverage and pension fund are the responsibility of the incumbent.
