You have:
- Master’s degree in Law, Human Rights, or Social Sciences with two years of relevant professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Rights, or Social Sciences with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in human rights research, protection monitoring, and analysis.
- Experience drafting research and analysis documents related to migration and displacement.
- Strong analytical, writing, and oral communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Urdu (oral and written). Other local languages are desirable.
- Knowledge of international human rights principles and protection risks.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines under pressure.

Project Context and Scope:
The consultant will be contributing to IOM’s Protection Unit, under the broader Humanitarian, Recovery, and Resilience Division. In recent years, IOM Pakistan’s protection portfolio has expanded to cover activities related to protection case management, community-based protection, gender-based violence, legal aid and assistance, as well as protection monitoring and analysis. In addition, the Protection Unit is conducting protection mainstreaming, through the provision of capacity building, and training, as well as close coordination with other units and divisions across the mission

Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree from an accredited academic institution in the field of Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences with two years of relevant professional experience,
Or
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in the field of Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
Experience in the field of human rights research, protection monitoring and analysis, and advocacy.
- Experience in drafting research and analysis documents, ideally related to migration and displacement.
- Experience in developing and adapting data collection tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social science research methodologies, including qualitative research.
- In-depth understanding of the socio-political and protection environment in Pakistan.
- Knowledge and understanding of protection issues related to communities in Pakistan.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work under pressure and deliver within set deadlines.
Skills
Strong analytical, writing and oral communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of social science research, including qualitative and quantitative methodologies, research design and rollout.
- Excellent computer skills and literacy (MS Word, PowerPoint, KOBO) and full proficiency in Excel.
- Strong knowledge of international human rights principles and protection risks.
- Team-work oriented, capacity to work independently, flexibility, and strong time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple and competing deadlines.
Languages:
- For all applicants, fluency in English and Urdu is required (oral and written).
Other local languages/dialects are desirable.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Responsibilities
Tasks to be performed under this contract
- Support with cleaning and analysis of protection monitoring data, collected on a quarterly basis.
- Improve, adapt and update protection monitoring data collection tools.
- Support with drafting protection monitoring reports and protection analysis briefs, as required.
- Contribute to information-sharing of protection data and findings within the team.
- Support with developing, reviewing and updating capacity-building material on data collection for protection.
- Maintain an up-to-date and in-depth understanding of protection risks, community dynamics and displacement trends in the various communities and locations monitored by IOM.
- Prepare presentations and talking points based on the findings of IOM’s protection monitoring activities in relevant external engagements and meetings.
- Perform other such duties, as may be assigned.
