STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as international development, international relations, peacebuilding, or knowledge management.

Experience:

· At least five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in knowledge management and learning, knowledge sharing, humanitarian affairs, development, peacebuilding, or related fields is required. · Experience working in fragile and conflict-affected contexts in the areas of food security or food systems in a UN agency, international NGO, or international organization is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Skills:

· Ability to conduct in-depth written analysis and formulate clear and

practical recommendations.

· Excellent analytical, writing, communication, facilitation, and networking

skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment, as well as

independently.

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other languages is desirable.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The Fighting Food Crises along the HDP Nexus Coalition emerged through the 2021 Food Systems Summit and recognizes that conflict and insecurity are primary drivers of food insecurity in many parts of the world. As such, the Coalition believes that addressing conflict is critical to improving food security in these contexts. The Coalition is committed to promoting peace efforts that address the root causes of conflict, and to working with local actors to prevent and resolve conflicts that contribute to food insecurity.

The Coalition is co-chaired by FAO, WFP, SIPRI, and the g7+. The g7+ is an intergovernmental organization made up of conflict-affected countries united by a vision of peace, stability, and development in their countries and everywhere in the world. The organization is based on the principle of "nothing about us, without us" which means that the voices of the people who are most affected by conflict and fragility are at the forefront of decision-making processes. The g7+ recognizes that fragile and conflict-affected countries face unique challenges that require tailored solutions that consider local contexts and perspectives. The g7+ provides a platform to conflict-affected countries to collectively voice the need for national dialogue and reconciliation to address conflicts; advocate for effective development cooperation founded on the principles of country ownership, transparency and mutual accountability between government and development partners; and facilitate sharing of first-hand experience and good development practices with one another. Through its role as a co-lead of the Coalition, the g7+ places the role and experience of countries affected by conflict and fragility at the centre of the Coalition’s efforts.

The Knowledge Management and Fragile-to-Fragile Learning Specialist will be responsible for promoting and facilitating knowledge management and sharing among Coalition members, as well as fostering fragile-to-fragile cooperation and exchange of experiences. The position will be hosted within the Secretariat of the g7+ in Dili, Timor-Leste, with the possibility of some travel to Coalition events and activities. The related work will be conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Head of the Coalition Secretariat (WFP) and in close collaboration with the g7+ Secretariat. The Coalition Secretariat is hosted by the Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC) and is based in Rome, Italy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

· Facilitate and enhance the engagement of the g7+ as a co-lead of the Coalition by serving as the first port of call for communications between the Coalition Secretariat and the g7+ Secretariat.

· Regularly consult with the g7+ Secretariat and its member countries to ensure that the Coalition is continuously evolving in a direction that maintains fragile and conflict affected states at the centre of its efforts.

· Support the development and roll out of the Coalition’s knowledge management approach and implementation plan, in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

· Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a system for collecting, analysing, and disseminating data related to food crises and related interventions, including through the use of appropriate and innovative tools and platforms.

· Lead on the formulation of best practices, including examples for dissemination to promote learning and ultimately inform policy development.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of a database of contextualised best practices and lessons learned on addressing food insecurity in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.

· Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and learning within the Coalition, through the organization of learning events, the development of communities of practice, and other activities.

· Aid in the advancement of collaboration and exchanges of experiences between Coalition members, with a focus on promoting fragile-to-fragile cooperation and learning.

· Build partnerships with external organizations and networks to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration through South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC).

· Support opportunities for the Coalition to engage in and build on Coalition co-leads’ and members’ SSTC initiatives to identify opportunities for engagement, Southern solutions to food crises, strategic investment, and facilitate peer learning and knowledge sharing through SSTC.

· Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of knowledge management and sharing activities within the Coalition and provide regular reports to the Coalition Secretariat.

· Providing inputs to Coalition reports and other communications products on knowledge management and learning.

· Work to enhance the engagement between g7+ and key regional intergovernmental organisations, in particular IGAD1 and ECOWAS2 CILSS3 as part of a wider network of support to these bodies to advance nexus approaches that include the Coalition and the GNAFC.

· Work with the GNAFC and the Coalition to ensure that g7+ focal points in relevant contexts are linked and can contribute to GNAFC support on nexus approaches and to the work of Food Systems Summit National Conveners in-country.
