Overview

Lead cloud architecture design and improvement

You have:

  • A university degree or master's degree in information technology, information management, information systems, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, business administration, management or other related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master's degree in cloud solutions (hybrid and public) and system administration.
  • Strong experience in designing high complexity IT solutions.
  • Experience with web technologies and building enterprise architecture roadmaps.
  • Good knowledge in two or more of the following domains: Operating systems, Virtual Platforms, Network infrastructure, Load balancers, Containers.
  • Experience with Project Management methodologies (PRINCE2/PMP, SCRUM, Agile methodology).
  • Experience in implementing software architectures based on APIs and microservices.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills, and the ability to deliver technical trainings.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Work Location Gaza

Expected duration ¿ The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds. ¿ Remuneration for this consultancy will be $1,592.60 and depend on fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience. ¿ The incumbent will be only in Gaza.

Duties and Responsibilities - Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems - Interact with project leads and technical stakeholders in building and deploying cloud solutions - Responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the service (Business oriented) - Design new Cloud solutions by answering efficiently our customer needs, analyze the technical decisions regarding the solution, the impact on business and the processes. - Pilot applications and services migration on Cloud service providers, based on their Well-Architected framework - Provide a Cloud technological watch to enable continuous innovation - Create documentation about migration methodology, architecture solutions, operating procedures - Work closely with customer teams, developers, and architects to build solid DevSecOps capability within the organization - Improve the overall quality of product, deployment, monitoring (with Dynatrace for example), with emphasis on resilience, maintainability, performance, scalability, security, and continuous improvement. - Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

¿ A university degree or master's degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years for a master’s degree in cloud solutions (hybrid and public) (e.g., Azure and AWS) and system administration.

  • Experience designing high complexity IT solutions.

  • Experience with web technologies and building enterprise architecture roadmaps.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing solutions spanning multiple portfolios within Enterprise’s environment.
  • Previous experience in IT Security or Infrastructure Projects.
  • Good knowledge in two or more of the following domains: Operating systems, Virtual Platforms, Network infrastructure & Load balancers, Containers
  • Good knowledge about Infrastructure tools and methodologies (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Infrastructure as Code, etc.)
  • Experience with Project Management methodologies (PRINCE2/PMP, SCRUM, Agile methodology)
  • Experience in implementing software architectures based on APIs and micro services.
  • Experience in implementing DevOps and CI/ CD methodologies.
  • Excellent technical documentation skills, and ability to deliver technical trainings

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE - Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline. - Professional certifications in the related field. - Knowledge of python for cloud and infrastructure automation - Basic knowledge of other recognized UN languages

Additional Information The UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking an Infrastructure Architect Specialist who is a strong infrastructure architect (both cloud and on-prem) with network knowledge that is up to date with the new technologies and methodologies to help the current team architect and deliver new projects. The new consultant will be integrated into a multidisciplinary group with backend developers, frontend developers, mobile developers, and systems engineers to deliver projects with cutting-edge technologies to UN companies. The consultant will help to innovate in areas like Distributed Digital ID, Secure communications, Blockchain and many others.
