Develop a Power BI Dashboard to support UN environmental efforts.
You have:
- An advanced university degree in environmental studies or global environmental governance is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in addressing the environmental dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is required.
- Experience in preparing data driven analytical reports (situation and gap analyses) is required.
- Proficiency in developing Power BI dashboards is required.
- Familiarity with the work of UN agencies on environmental issues is desirable.
- Knowledge of intergovernmental processes including the 2030 Agenda and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is an absolute requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The UN Environment Management Group (EMG) is a UN system-wide coordination body on the environment, promoting system-wide policy coherence, synergy and collaborative and flexible approaches to environmental issues in the United Nations system. A consultant is sought to support the Secretariat of the UN Environment Management Group (EMG) with gathering, categorizing, and visualizing information on UN system efforts to address environmental challenges. The resulting dashboard will serve as a visualization of the UN System-Wide Framework of Strategies (SWFS) that was developed by the EMG as a collaborative framework to achieve greater synergy, collaboration and coherence in the UN system’s work on the environment to support Member States in the delivery of the environmental dimension of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The Dashboard will inform the development of the 4th SWFS report to be delivered to 7th session of the UN Environment Assembly. The consultant will report to the head of the EMG Secretariat. Outputs • Definition of “environmental information” and of the scope/boundary for information collection • Collection and systematic categorization of information from UN entities on their environmental activities using online resources • Structure for the organization of data / information display • Finalised dashboard with charts and graphs showing how the UN system is supporting Member States in addressing the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda • Input to reports on progress to EMG Senior Officials and UNEA.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree in environmental studies or global environmental governance is required. However, a first-level university degree in a relevant field, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Minimum 5 years of experience in addressing the environmental dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is required. (7 years of experience is required in case of a Bachelor’s degree) Experience in preparing data driven analytical reports (situation and gap analyses) and proficiency in developing Power BI dashboards is required. Familiarity with the work of UN agencies on environmental issues as well as knowledge of intergovernmental processes including the 2030 Agenda and multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) is desirable.
