Overview

Lead fundraising initiatives and develop strategic gender programs at UNODC.

You have:

• A minimum of 10 years of relevant progressively responsible professional experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming - required
• Knowledge of gender mainstreaming methodology, in particular gender fundraising - required
• A strong background in fundraising, with a proven track record of successfully securing funding for gender-related initiatives - required
• In-depth knowledge of gender issues, including understanding the intersections of gender with crime, justice, and drug-related challenges - required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with potential donors and partners as well as experience working for UN and other international organizations - required
• An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in International Development, Social Sciences, Law, or in a field related to gender is desirable. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Result of Service

• Strategic knowledge products are developed and packaged; - Co-fundraising opportunities with other relevant UNODC programs identified; - Grant proposals, funding applications and donor-specific materials are developed and applied; - Database of partners are developed including UN agencies, development partners and other stakeholders; - Fundraising Events are organized; - Advocacy and outreach events under Women, Peace and Security Agenda are organized; - Relevant gender mainstreaming efforts in LAC are coordinated

Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising Consultant will have the following duties and responsibilities: - Implementation of fundraising strategy; - Proposals and grant writing, including: 1. Lead the development of joint programme concepts on gender and crime with UNODC divisions, regional programmes, and GSFP network 2. Convene and lead external consultations with UN agencies (UN Women etc.) and development partners to identify entry points for joint fundraising and programming. 3. Set up and facilitate bilateral and multilateral meetings with Member States, donors, and other partners to position UNODC’s gender work and explore partnerships; - Development and packaging of strategic knowledge products – including: 1. Finalising and packaging the Best Practices Compendium on Gender Programming (including presentation slides and learning series). 2. Development of UNODC Vision for Women Peace and Security, including impact indicators and leadership brief - Partner development and outreach, including: 1. Coordinate joint UNODC events/activities for the WPS@25 anniversary, in collaboration with other UN entities 2. Develop external WPS messaging (brochure, talking points, campaign “25 Voices for 25 Years”) 3. Facilitate internal consultations with UNODC divisions/field offices to consolidate inputs and identify flagship contributions to WPS@25 - Awareness raising and outreach - Coordination with Latin America and Caribbean

Qualifications/special skills

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
