Due to the precarious nature of their work, women working in the cultural and creative industries were particularly impacted, namely in relation to their income, access to social security and freedom of movement and artistic creation. In the framework of preparations for the third edition of the Global Report series *Re**|Shaping Cutlural Policies* (2022) monitoring the implementation of the 2005 Convention, and in order to sustain a global discussion around reshaping cultural policies, the Individual Specialist shall, under the authority of the Chief of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions Entity (hereafter 'DCE') draft a paper pertaining to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender equality in the cultural and creative industries to inform DCE's reserach in this area. The chapter shall be written in English in approximately 5 “standard pages” as defined by UNESCO (a “standard page” containing 320 words), and present preliminary findings on the impact of COVID-19, and new types of policies and measures adopted and highlight geographical trends. Through research and analysis, the author shall identify key messages and put forth recommendations. Long Description ---------------- ***Scope of Assignment*** The Individual Specialist shall consult the Secretariat to seek clarification as deemed necessary and shall submit partial or preliminary drafts in advance of the stated deadlines, for review by the UNESCO Secretariat. In preparing the interim report, the Individual Specialist shall: a) Establish regular working relations with UNESCO in order to explore what data is available; b) Undertake research and data analysis, collected both from the quadrennial periodic reports and other independent sources d) Participate in email exchanges, conference calls and face-to-face meetings, as required; f) Submit to UNESCO the final version of the paper that contains key findings, policy recommendations, messages or quotes from influential persons.
