Overview

You have:

  • Preferably a university degree in social sciences, international development, communication, business administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in undertaking quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Exposure to issues affecting international staff is required
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc)
  • Excellent English language writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese is required.
  • Concise analytical writing skills, good listening skills, multicultural sensitivity and commitment to assignment.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The United Nations (hereinafter UN) conduct periodically DSA surveys in locations, where it has a presence. The first objective of this survey is to collect data on the cost of hotels prices and meals. This information will then serve as basis for establishing the DSA rate of a particular location. The second objective is to assess the current DSA practice across the development organizations and at the Government level.

The UN is therefore looking to hire a consultant who, under the overall supervision of the UN Operations Management Team, will be required to carry out the following tasks:

  • Visit the hotels in the list provided by the OMT
  • Complete one DSA questionnaire form for each hotel visited
  • Document any concerns and/or additional comments on the hotels at the back of each form
  • Submit all questionnaires and supporting documents to the OMT Chairperson
  • Conduct a survey on DSA paid to national counterparts by the Government of Angola
  • Provide an official document (diario da republica) on the current DSA approved by the Government
  • Conduct a survey of the differences in the DSA rates practiced between UN, World Bank and other development organizations

Deliverables:

  • DSA questionnaires fully completed including official hotel prices list and restaurant menus attached to each hotel questionnaire
  • A summary report highlighting any key issues and recommendations for the next survey
  • Report on DSA paid to national counterparts by the Government of Angola
  • Report on the DSA paid by the UN, World Bank and other development organizations
  • Current Dario da Republica on DSA

  • Qualifications:

    • Preferably a university degree in social sciences, international development, communication, business administration or related field.

    Professional experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in undertaking quantitative data collection, analysis and reporting
    • Exposure to issues affecting international staff is required
    • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc)
    • Excellent English language writing skills.
    • Knowledge of Portuguese is required.

    Personal skills:

    Concise analytical writing skills, good listening skills, multicultural sensitivity and commitment to assignment.

    Duration of assignment: 4 weeks
