- Successful completion of degree or non-degree programs in econometrics, especially time series and panel data analysis is an advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in economic analysis and macro and agricultural economics is required.
- Knowledge of STATA is required.
- Knowledge of R or Matlab is an advantage.
- Fluency in written and oral English is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background: This position is in the Office of the Director of the Macroeconomic, Finance and Governance Division (MFGD) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The Division is headed by a Director and reports to the Deputy Executive Secretary (Programme). The Division is responsible for supporting African member States in their efforts to accelerate economic transformation and inclusive growth through effective development planning, improved macroeconomic management and economic governance as well as better mobilization and allocation of domestic and international public finance. The Division is divided into four main sections: Macroeconomic Analysis, Development Planning, Economic Governance and Public Finance, and Finance and Domestic Resource Mobilization. Under the supervision of the Director of the Macroeconomics, Finance and Governance Division (MFGD) the Consultant will be responsible for the following: • Develops methodology • Collect data • Carries out analysis • Derives policy recommended • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned research paper analysis; collect data and analyzes • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources. • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies. • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, c harts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent) in economics with focus on macroeconomics, agricultural economics, development economics is required. Successful completion of degree or non-degree programs in econometrics especially time series and panel data analysis is an advantage. A minimum of (5) years of progressive experience in economic analysis, macro and agricultural economics, knowledge of STATA is required. Knowledge of R or Matlab is an advantage.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required.
