The Unit supports Member States in the LAC region via programmatic lines of action that entail knowledge-creation and sharing; policy development; technical assistance and advocacy in areas related to early childhood care and education, inclusive education and disability, and overall equitable and quality learning for vulnerable groups. Long Description ---------------- **Duty Station: Home-based** **Scope of the Assignment** The Consultant will perform the following functions: 1\. Support the development, coordination, management, implementation, and monitoring of activities related to early childhood care and education and inclusive education; 2\. Provide support to project/programme cycle management undertaken by the Unit in the above areas. 3\. Contribute to and support the development of workplans, project documents, progress reports and publications. 4\. Provide intellectual, strategic, technical and operational assistance with pertinent and timely responses to demands for UNESCO services and inputs on the above areas covered by the Unit. 5\. Support the coordination and preparation of terms of reference related to the Unit’s activities and follow up with the needed technical back-stopping, monitoring and advice for a timely delivery of quality products that have been procured. 6\. Coordinate and contribute to the generation and expansion of knowledge and evidence relevant to policy and monitoring undertakings of the unit in the above areas 7\. Support the planning and implementation of advocacy activities of the Unit jointly with networks and partners as needed. 9\. Undertake any other relevant professional task required by his/her supervisor in view of an effective implementation of planned activities. Long Description ---------------- **SKILLS/COMPETENCIES** - Very good knowledge and understanding of education as part of international development, especially in Latin America and Caribbean contexts. - Good knowledge of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular, of Sustainable Development Goal 4 and its targets - Very good analytical skills - Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods - Ability to draft high quality, clear, concise documents and reports. - Excellent presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in a multicultural environment. - Good IT skills. - Excellent coordination skills, as well as an ability to network with a range of partners, donors and other stakeholders. - Multitasking and flexibility **LANGUAGES** • Excellent knowledge (written and spoken) of Spanish and English. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- **WORK EXPERIENCE** - Experience at an international level in Early Childhood Care and Education - Experience at an international level in inclusive education **SKILLS/COMPETENCIES** - Familiarity with the work and functioning of the UN System **LANGUAGES** - Working knowledge of French. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
