Result of Service The incumbent is expected to deliver the following results: - Implement new software features and bug fixes; - Perform software version upgrades and security patches; - Deploy Magento modules and extensions; - Develop new e-Commerce features in support of business processes; - Support integration of Magento and enterprise management systems (e.g. ERP, CRM, Learning Management System (LMS)).

Expected duration An initial period of twelve (12 months) with a possibility of an extension.

Duties and Responsibilities THE ORGANIZATIONAL SETTING The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) sets international Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) for aviation safety, air navigation, security and environmental protection. To that effect, ICAO is a knowledge-based organization engaged in the development of intellectual property. The Revenue and Product Management Section is part of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau and is focused on the organization's revenue-generating activities. The portfolio of revenue-generating activities includes publications, periodicals, databases, websites, training, printing, and events. The revenues generated by these activities are required to promote ICAO’s Strategic Objectives and carry out related Programme Support. The Section is responsible for the overall strategic planning, stakeholders’ collaboration, coordination, promotion, and distribution of these sellable products in close coordination with the other Bureaus/Offices of the Organization.

The E-Commerce and Publications Sales Unit (ECP) is responsible for the sales and electronic distribution of ICAO publications and products and have implemented an e-Commerce system based on the Magento platform.

The e-Commerce Developer will work under the guidance of the Head of the E-Commerce and Publication Sales Unit (ECP) and will be required to enhance and maintain the current e-Commerce platform in a cost-effective manner, as well as support system installation, configuration, feature development or enhancement and maintenance.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Function 1 (incl. expected results) Maintains and provides ongoing systems support around the e-Commerce platform and systems achieving results such as: - Collaborate with ICAO’s Adobe Commerce managed services vendor; - Take ownership of the codebase and advise on such areas as, test coverage, security, performance, and architecture while using standards-compliant web technologies; - Implement Adobe Commerce version upgrades and security patches as well as update design, themes and interfaces; - Perform database maintenance and updates; - Troubleshoot issues, resolve bugs, identify and fix performance issues, and enhance existing features; - Conduct regular reviews of the technical environment and codebase to ensure quality standards and system security is maintained; - Provide technical support to business users of the platform.

Function 2 (incl. expected results) Enhances the current e-Commerce platform and system achieving results such as: - Develop, test and deploy e-commerce platform features, optimisations and integrations; - Evaluate business requirements and develop integrations with corporate SaaS and bespoke systems such as ERP, CRM, Learning Management System (LMS) and Training Electronic Management System (TPEMS); - Provide insight and guidance concerning optimization opportunities and priorities for both back end functionality and site performance for the UI experience; - Design and develop reports; - Work with business analyst to develop high quality agile technical specifications; - Provide weekly planning, tracking, and reporting to management;

Function 3 (incl. expected results) Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills Educational Background: - A first-level university degree (or equivalent) in computer science or in a related field is required.

Essential Experience: - A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a web developer; - PHP experience and strong PHP development skills; - Experience in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, MySQL; - Experience working with code versioning software (such as SVN or Git); - Software debugging skills.

Desirable Experience: - Full stack software development experience; - Experience working with e-Commerce environments, in particular Adobe Commerce Cloud; - Knowledge of Adobe Commerce software architecture (modules and templates); - Experience in software testing; - Experience in Object-Oriented Development and MVC applications in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, JQuery and CSS; - Experience developing or supporting integrations with Enterprise applications include ERP or LMS; - Ability to reach out and work with internal and external stakeholders to solve complex problems.

Languages Essential - Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.

Desirable - A working knowledge of any other language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

Additional Information It should be noted that this consultancy is to be filled for an initial period of twelve (12 months) with a possibility of an extension. This is a full-time position. Remote work from other location and/or telework is possible.

Please note that the monthly rate for Band B varies from CAD 5,097 to CAD 8,122 per month.
