Work Location Gaza

Expected duration 6 to 11 months

Duties and Responsibilities - Assisting with social media, standards, and communications as a service. - Support building templates, posters, presentations, and communications products. - Writing news articles, newsletter production and email contact management (Mailchimp), sales sheets, information briefs, etc. - Initiating and implementing awareness raising and public information strategies and campaigns. - Ensuring that communication and visibility initiatives, projects and activities are targeted at pre-identified audiences and contain tailored messages. - Ensuring that communication and visibility activities are effectively monitored, and that impact is properly evaluated. - Ensuring that content and messages developed follow donor and UNICC branding guidelines. - Assist in the development of new communications activities aimed at expanding UNICC’s digital reach and engagement. - Perform other duties as required

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in English language, area of Communications, journalism, graphic design, or other relevant fields;

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience for a bachelor's degree and 1 year for a master's degree in managing websites with user-end approach, managing web content and operating websites or other related fields;

• Experience in ICT, technical writing, standards and policy writing, experience with online CMS programs, photo and video editing, graphic design, WordPress.

• Experience in Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe Suite products - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Word Press, Drupal, SharePoint, and other CMS tools; Final Cut video, animation tools and social media

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with contemporary knowledge management technologies and UN content management systems.
• Experience of synthesizing, quality assuring, editing, and compiling relevant information for intranet use.

• Interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Communication: o Excellent written and verbal communication skills. o Good understanding of communications strategies, preferably in a UN setting. o Effective communications skills to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization. o Excellent writing technical and business skills and creativity to assist in managing communications materials in a fast-paced environment
• Teamwork, accuracy of detailed project work, interest to learn new things and be part of a humanitarian mission.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

• The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 12 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
• Remuneration for his consultancy will be $ 1,410.70 USD and according to relevant experience and performance.

• The Consultant will be based in Gaza.

  Additional Information UNRWA Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) is seeking a communications consultant for supporting ongoing and new communications projects with an emphasis on writing news stories, delivering social media, designing graphics and videos, supporting UX and information management/publication at the UNICC pubic website, and managing projects for the communications program.

The consultant will report administratively and technically to Head Information Technology Service Centre at Headquarter Gaza.
