UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office works to ensure the rights of all children in Thailand. This means the rights of every child living in this country, irrespective of their nationality, gender, religion or ethnicity, to:

  • survival – to basic healthcare, peace and security;
  • development – to a good education, a loving home and adequate nutrition;
  • protection – from abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labour and other forms of exploitation; and
  • participation – to express opinions, be listened to and take part in making any decisions that affect them

How can you make a difference?

The Adolescent Development and Participation Section, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to support key components around content management related to the conference, knowledge management and documentation given that some of these tasks require dedicated time and expertise, also primarily support the Regional Advisor, ADAP and the organizing team in UNICEF RO to prepare for the proposed regional conference on adolescents’ participation and civic engagement. In addition, the consultant is expected to consolidate ideas and inputs from both UNICEF and also external partners in preparation for the conference; finalize the conference agenda and list of speakers; liaise with partners to secure participation; and ensure that a virtual conference set-up is in place to maximize strategic participation and engagement of diverse partners and the expected results will also include coordinating with UNICEF RO colleagues to support the finalization of the Conference Report once the event has taken place.

Work Assignment:

  • Finalization of conference agenda, confirmation of speakers
  • Establishing the virtual conference set-up, which may include selection of virtual conference space since this entails organizing break out rooms, multi-media presentations and other related facilities
  • Speaker bios of all panelists to be developed.
  • Contact details of all UNICEF participants as well as those from private sector and social enterprises to be compiled.
  • A list of key background documentation from UNICEF countries that can be showcased at the event needs to be selected, and COs need to be advised to share these at the event.
  • Drafting the consolidated conference report, including key conference decisions and outcomes.

Duration of Contract: 25 working days during the period of 18 June – 17 November 2021.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Advanced university degree in social sciences, business, journalism, education, media, communication, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum five years of professional work experience in working on adolescents’ programming, child protection, human rights, monitoring and evaluation and/or knowledge management, and documentation, with recognized technical expertise in the areas of adolescent programming, youth participation, 21st century skills, social innovations and/or similar.
  • Work experience and/or proven familiarity with countries in the East Asia and Pacific region is an asset.
  • Work experience with UNICEF and other UN agencies, particularly based in the EAP region is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is necessary.
  • Knowledge of any other languages spoken in the region would also be an advantage.
  • Being based in Thailand is an advantage.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
