**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Natural Sciences Sector (SC) Duty Station: Perugia Job Family: Natural Sciences Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 1 to 6 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 01-DEC-2021 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Within the framework of the UNESCO and the Italian Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the UNESCO “World Water Assessment Programme – WWAP”, under the overall supervision of the WWAP Coordinator and direct supervision of Senior Programme Specialist, in close collaboration with all members of the WWAP Secretariat, the Capacity Development and Social Media Consultant is requested to develop activities with outputs related to the WWAP gender component and related ‘water and gender capacity development’. The consultant will: **1. Capacity Training** Development of the WWAP Water and Gender capacity development programme in several regions, including West Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, Pacific SIDS, Arab States, Central Asia. This includes: liaising with Central Asia and Arab States for initial discussions, potential preparation of the high-level webinars in the aforementioned regions; revision of the draft group case studies as well as follow-up for the West Africa region; assistance in preparation of the final technical workshop (F2F or online) for the Latin America and Caribbean and Pacific SIDS regions; and revision of the work of individual WWAP consultants on the WWAP Capacity Development Programme’s content. **2. Communication** **A. Social Media** Carry out WWAP social media communication activities, mainly through regular sharing of content on the WWAP Twitter account, updating of accounts followed, and interaction with other accounts through likes, retweets, messages. Central stands the continuation of the communication efforts to maintain visibility of the WWAP Multi-stakeholder Call for Action. Highlight events are marked by the launch of the WWDR 2022 and the CSW66. **B. Generic Communication** Advocacy efforts to maintain visibility of the WWAP Multi-stakeholder Call for Action with focus on outreach and networking, notably to inform and expand the WWAP Water and Gender Working Group. Highlight events are marked by the launch of the WWDR 2022 and the CSW66. Long Description ---------------- **3. UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG6 (IMI-SDG6)** Within the SDG6.5.2. Indicator Working Group (IWG) composed of UNESCO (IHP and WWAP) and UNECE, an internal assessment/review will be conducted of gender representation in the current SDG 6.5.2. practices, by analysing the 2017 baseline and 2020 reporting processes through a gender lens, either through further stratification of existing indicators or complementary analysis of additional gender-specific indicators. This aims to explore the technical feasibility and the relative costs and benefits of the different types of analysis, specifically for country-level policy- and decision-making and how they might contribute to future integrated analysis of gender-related inequalities under SDG 6. **4. Call for Action** Continuation of the WWAP Multi-stakeholder Call for Action on Gender Equality in the Water Domain. This includes: assistance to - or co-organization- of related events, and delivering presentations where needed. Long Description ---------------- **5. Knowledge** Work with the WWAP interns and consultants and provide inputs, revision and guidance to the work produced. This includes: the WEM assessment report; background research on Water, Gender and Climate Change in the regions of West Africa, and Arab States. **6. Ad-hoc support** Carry out ad-hoc activities linked to the preparation of relevant documents, speeches, presentations, reporting and gender mainstreaming of publications. **REQUIRED COMPETENCIES** ------------------------- **Academic Qualifications** \- University degree in a relevant field. **Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements** \- At least 5 years of experience, preferably in te field of gender and freashwater related activities. \- Excellent command of English and very good skills in written and oral communication and presentation. \- Very good IT skills. \- Knowledge of budget and administrative requirements. \- Ability to prioritize and deliver meeting deadlines. \- Abillity to work as part of a team, create networks and deal with participatory processes. **APPLICATION PROCESS** ----------------------- Interested candidates should click on "Apply Now", download and complete the following: \- Employment Histroy form (Word file).
