**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Natural Sciences Sector (SC) Duty Station: Perugia Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Natural Sciences Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 29-SEP-2022 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Within the framework of the UNESCO and the Italian Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the UNESCO “World Water Assessment Programme – WWAP”, under the overall supervision of the WWAP Coordinator and direct supervision of Senior Water and Gender Programme Specialist, in close collaboration with all members of the WWAP Secretariat, the Capacity Development and Social Media Consultant is requested to develop activities with outputs related in most part to capacity development linked to the project agreement between UNESCO WWAP and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for advancing WASH for all in Asia and the Pacific, and other tasks of the WWAP gender component linked to media, training and advocacy. The consultant will carry out tasks in the following categories: **1. Capacity development** Support the WWAP Water and Gender capacity development programme in several regions, including Pacific and Caribbean SIDS, Central America, and South Asia. This includes but not limited to the preparation and update of training materials; preparation and delivery of high-level and technical training (online and in presence); support and revision of draft group case studies, and mentoring and follow-up until publication. A major part of the capacity development activities will involve those included in the ADB-WWAP agreement. **2. Project implementation in the field** Support the implementation of field activities within the framework of the ADB – WWAP agreement on WASH in the Pacific SIDS, the WWAP technical support to the Joint SDG Fund in Belize and Jamaica, and in the FAO-GEF project in the Mekong River Basin if needed. Activities include assistance in the development of study tools for data collection and analysis, conduct surveys and interviews, process and analyse data, mentor on the implementation of WWAP indicators, and produce result reports for donor and colleagues. Support the organization of project-related events, and delivering presentations when needed. **3. Communication** **A. Social Media** Carry out WWAP social media communication actions for WWAP´s core activities such as the WWAP Multi-stakeholder Call for Action initiative on water and gender, and the launch and year-round coverage of the annual WWDR. Moreover, provide social media coverage of WWAP water and gender activities under implemented projects (see points 1 and 2). **B. Generic Communication** Advocacy efforts to maintain visibility of WWAP actions and publications in the field of ‘water and gender’, the Call for Action initiative as well as to disseminate project actions and results of the WWAP project agreements with partners. Support in reporting project implementation and related events to inform donors, colleagues and provide input to generic communication materials such as articles. **4. UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG6 (IMI UNOPS-SDG6)** Providing technical advice as required during the pilot testing of the gender contextualised SDG 6.5.2 methodology carried out by the SDG 6.5.2. Indicator Working Group (IWG) composed of UNESCO (IHP and WWAP) and UNECE. **5. Ad-hoc support** Carry out ad-hoc activities linked to the preparation of relevant documents, speeches, presentations, reporting and gender mainstreaming of publications. **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED COMPETENCIES** ------------------------- **Academic Qualifications** . University master degree in a relevant field e.g. environment, hydrology, or related natural sciences; social sciences. **Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements** . At least 5 years of experience, preferably in the field of gender and freshwater related activities. . Experience in capacity development activities in topics of water and gender. . Excellent command of English and very good skills in written and oral communication and presentation. . Very good IT skills. . Knowledge of budget and administrative requirements. . Ability to prioritize and deliver meeting deadlines. .
